Coventry’s squad last season didn’t look any better than ours on paper , Lampard just found a way of playing that suited his squad and the division
Our squad this season is probably our strongest for a long while
If Matos can find a way to get the best out of it ,then we’re looking good |

He had an injury and all the speculation hanging over him hasn’t helped
Idah and Zan are different types of players,both will be important to us this season

We see teams exploiting the space allowed them out wide every game , we just need to mark the wide men tighter , if we stop them having the ball then they can’t cross it can they
If our fullbacks push forward then a midfielder has to drop back to cover the space
We’ve got a great squad ,Matos just needs to tweak his tactics to make us tighter ,defensively out wide
When we do move the ball forward at pace We look so good |

Liam’s report is very accurate ,Southampton did target our defensive flanks ,as most teams try to do ,because our fullbacks move infield too much,allowing the space out wide for the wingers to get the ball,we see it every game ,teams play the ball from side to side then pop the ball out wide to an unmarked player ,who invariably gets past the fullback and gets balls into the box ,this wouldn’t happen if we marked tighter ,its basic defending not rocket science
Lissah and Welsh are undoubtedly our best centre back pairing ,quick ,mobile and always trying to move the ball forward,we look a better team with them |

Our slow play and wide defending was exposed again and we showed how much we struggled in front of goal
We seem to struggle against Well organised teams ,so we need to change our strategy to find a way to stifle them and also to open them up and create chances
We are not a bad team but we are not in the top echelon either …yet
Yes we've got things to work on but we’ve got the best squad we’ve had for a long time and will get better |

Burnley and Lincoln will not be walkovers and they will be looking at how easily we conceded tonight
We’ve signed midfielders but our Achilles heel is our fullbacks who aren’t the best defensively ,the only answer for now is to get them closer to the opposition widemen ,not letting them have the ball unopposed and coming at us and get our wingers to cover them more
Lissah and Welsh are our best CB pairing ,both are more mobile in defence and going forward and we need to play them together from now on
And we need to get shots away quickly instead of trying to thread balls through tiny gaps
We need to learn from this ,and from the Wrexham and Sheffield Utd games because they both stifled us far too easily
Probably a wake up call for people tipping us for top 8 |

If you watch the ITV highlights,it was all Wrexham ,1st half and 2nd
Not a true reflection of the game at all
Maybe their owners directed the show ,they commentated last season ,all about them eh !! |

Our fullbacks stand too far off the widemen, giving them time and space to receive the ball,we need to mark tighter against Wrexham , a lot of their attacks involve long ball’s over the top to the wings,allowing them to run in behind, if we stop that happening by marking tighter ,they will be forced to change the way they normally play
They had far too much space and time against Millwall and got the result |

It’s bound to be difficult not knowing what’s happening, I get the impression we’ve been trying to move him on ,maybe he does too and that’s not good for him or his confidence
He had a lot to put up with under the previous coach and was treated really badly but caused no trouble and did the business when given the chance
He’s been a credit,both in his attitude and performances while he’s been here and I hope he stays
He’s proved himself at this level and will again given the chance |

As I’ve said on another thread , I get the impression they want Zan to go , I hope I’m wrong and would be absolutely gutted if that were the case
He’s been a brilliant pro in his time with us and was treated terribly by the other regimes, yet he kept his head down and did the business and more
If we are to get promoted he’s exactly the type of player we need |

Lissah and Welsh have been a breath of fresh air , two outstanding ball playing centre halves, cool ,calm and supremely talented, their impact has been immense and they are probably only going to get better
If we have aspirations to get promoted these are the type of players we need
Will we be able to keep them if they keep playing the way they are,let’s hope so
Matos has pointed out that other transfer windows are still open and Zan could still be a target for continental teams, am I the only one to get the impression we are trying to get Zan out , why ?? , he’s been a model pro in his time with us, got treated really shabbily by the previous managers but kept his head down,got on with the job , never caused a problem ,then ,last season when given the chance, produced the goods in bucket’s,exactly the type of player we need now , especially if we want to get promoted
I personally hope we can keep all these players ,as they have made watching us so much better |

Great win tonight , great performances throughout the team including the subs ,what a squad depth we now have
The 2 goals were absolutely breathtaking,fast attacking football at its best and it should and could have been more
Solid defence , great press and quick on the counter attack

I don’t mean the exciting signings we have undoubtedly made
I just mean getting rid of the highest scorer in the championship last season ,when we are trying to get to the playoffs or promoted
We need Zan’s goals, he may not score that many again,who knows but he is proven at championship level and 20 a season forwards are hard to come by
We’ve already got one , why lose him |
