A Rough Guide To Doncaster
A Rough Guide To Doncaster

To us Southerners its Doncaster to those in the North its purely "Donny".

Doncaster Rovers Keepmoat Stadium was opened in September 2007 and in simple terms is your off the peg football stadium in a small medium size.

Think St Mary's cut it in half and you have just about got the Keepmoat although the locals are fiercely proud of it after moving from the decrepit Belle Vue, which had not only been slowly rotting for years but even a one time Rovers Chairman had tried to burn down the main stand for the insurance money. Now they are esconced in the Keepmoat its coincided with Donny Rovers best period in living memory.

The away end is the Case Construction Stand (North  End) and has a pretty good view as although the seating deck isnt that high it is quite steep and there are no pillars or other obstructions.

Cash isnt acccepted at the Turnstiles, if you are going without a ticket you need to buy one first at the ticket office.

Getting there

By Car

After heading north by the usual routes and hitting the M1 proceed on this motorway till you reach the turnoff for the M18 at Junction 32, from there head Eastbound signposted amongst other things Hull and stay on here till Junction 3, from this junction head on the A6182  the Stadium is well signposted approximately 1 1/2 miles from the motorway.

Parking

There are approximately 1,000 spaces at the ground at a cost of £5, there is also an away car park for Coaches and Mini Buses, with gates now under 10,000  this should be ample when spaces on the  nearby industrial estates are added (look out for parking restrictions, spaces are on pay on the day private car parks of firms on the estates)

By Train

Doncaster station is just over two miles away so a long hike, the bus interchange opposite the station runs a matchday shuttle bus X75 from stand C6 approximately every 10 mins thereand back at a cost of £1.10 each way, otherwise its a taxi ride.

Drinking Etc

Being a ground on the outskirts of the town on a new leisure park, there isnt much in the way of traditional pubs near the stadium, however the Cheswold is a brewers fare type of establishment on the lakeside retail park and there is also a bar attached to the bowling alley next to the Vue cinema, both are approximately 10 minutes walk from the ground.

There is a bar at the ground which apparently lets in visiting supporters, however this can get very busy so if you want to use this the advice is to get there early as after 2pm it may be full. It doesnt do food though so make sure you have had something before going in. Alcohol is available inside the ground
