Saints fans are bracing themselves for a mad scramble before the transfer window slams shut in a few weeks time.

The rumour mill is working overtime at St Mary's with the possibility of several comings and goings in the next few weeks before the transfer window slams firmly shut.

Possibly heading for the out door are Pele, Jonh Viafara and Kenwyne Jones all subject to interest from Midlands Clubs.

Viafara has yet to appear in any of the friendlies so far after returning from the Copa America, fuellling rumours that he might be on his way, with West Brom being the favourites to make a bid, however its believed that the Columbian's wife is not keen on uprooting herself from the area and therefore he doesnt wish to move.

Surprisingly the Baggies are also reportably interested in Pele and he didnt appear at Brentford on Saturday.

But most worringly is he interest in Kenwynne Jones by Derby County, Sky news reported yeasterday that Saints are complaining to the FA regarding the Rams approach to Jones and the alledged £5 million pound bid.

Certainly Saints need to offload at least one player to bring in some transfer funds that would allow George Burley to bring in an experienced central defender, Viafara would be a loss considering his form last season, although with a plethora of players in midfield his loss could be covered.

In the case of Pele he did not have a great season, in his natural position of centre back he was dreadful and even though he was adequate when moved to midfield its hard to see where he will now get a game there with the new arrivals.

Biggest uproar though would be if Jones was to depart however would it be good business ?

Saints would still have a better forward line than they started last term with and the five million would be an unexpected bonus that could allow Burley to delve into the market with more money than anticipated, a partnership of Rasiak and Saganowski wouldnt be the worst in the division.

So Saints fans brace themselves for transfer market movement, one thing is for sure though, if the Club is to have any hope of promotion, then they have to bring in a big experienced central defender and fast.
