Saints first week back in training didnt answer too many questions. 

For those hoping that the first week of pre season training would offer a few clues as to the retained list were disapointed, of course there wear a few faces missing and surprisingly a few there who werent expected.

Nathan Dyer was perhaps the biggest shock to see in Saints training kit, it was assumed that he would not be re signing, but there he was with the rest getting down to regaining fitness, perhaps his recent brush with the law has made him think that his best bet might be to knuckle down with Saints and see what happens in the next few weeks, yes he might still go to a premiership club, but if the right offer doesnt come along then it could be that he will opt to stay at St Mary's.

There is no doubt that it will be a difficult season ahead, we will soon start to find out whether this is a dawning of a new exciting era for Saints or as many Saints supporters are predicting, the biggest disaster connected with Southampton since the Titanic.
