Celtic manager Neil Lennon says the Swans have to believe in themselves as they head into their Premier League season

The Cektic manager saw his side beaten 2-0 by Swansea City on Wednesday night at the Liberty and told the Western Mail after the game “It’s a tough league. They will have to have belief in themselves and if they can get that they will be OK.

“It’s important to get that first win as quickly as possible.

“We went up in 1996 at Leicester through the play-offs and a lot of us were lower league players, myself, Robbie Savage, Muzzy Izzet, Matt Elliot.

“There is always that doubt in the back of your mind if you can cope.

“But, once the games get under way, if they can get a positive result and realise they can compete at that level they should be OK.

“They have got a really bright manager in Brendan and he has done a really good job here.

“It’s very a exciting time for the club.

“It was interesting for us to be able to try a different formation. Brendan is very tactical in his approach.

“Swansea are very fluid in the way they move the ball around.

“It was a good test for the way we wanted to try and play.

“We went one up front, with two either side in midfield and I was pretty happy with how it went.

“It was an adaptation of a European formation and something we have been wanting to work on all pre-season but haven’t had the opportunity to do.”
