Saints Get Home Draw In Next Round Of Checkatrade Trophy Thursday, 10th Nov 2016 12:50 Saints have been drawn at home in the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy after winning their group. Saints are again looking at a return to Wembley in the Football league Trophy, in 2010 it was called the Johnstones Paint Trophy and now in the newly named Checkatrade Trophy they have been drawn at home to Reading U23's in the last 32 of the competition. Saints will be in confident mood given that the Biscuitmen or should that be Biscuitboys only qualified in 2nd place in their group and lost to Yeovil this week, added to that Saints have beaten them already at academy level this season, beating them 3-1 at Staplewood. The game will be played on December 5th at St Mary's although it looks like it will not be a massive crowd present with Saints supporters not really taking the competition seriously as they did in 2009/10 when the first team competed in it for the first time and it was seen as the resurgence of the club culminating in beating Carlisle at Wembley in the final. However supporters on message boards seem to be unanimous that should the club reach Wembley for the final then they would attend the game, indeed many would see it as a fitting tribute to Markus Liebherr who started the ball rolling back in 2009 when he bought the club and the iconic image of him taking photos from the Royal Box at Wembley and clearly enjoying the day.
