Club I work at is called Baltimore Armour/SAC Top teams play nationally. Was originally founded by Leeds and QPR fans. It was there 50th anniversary and I got involved to get a special shirt made. Best kit they have ever had. Classy European look. Do the kids care, not one bit. |

I live in Baltimore. Planks a bit of a plank apparently. A bro culture is what I here UA stuff was of good quality but with zero style. Still have winter gear I brought years ago. Good for base layers etc. Started selling in retail establishments like maceys, jc penny etc and somewhat devalued the niche. Quality seems to have diminished from people I talk to. They used to make spurs and Southampton shirts. I got into it with a UA employed neighbor who kept saying the soccer shirt is designed for the Athlete, like that ski or swim suit they made. I said no it’s for the fans who are going to buy it. UA don’t get soccer. UA shop near me is full of the most ghastly collection of colours and styles. There sort of fashion gear is so ugly. Maybe they know they can’t be an adidas or Nike for example. Clothes for blokes who wear their caps backwards and have a piece of plastic with holes stamped across their foreheads and think it looks cool. Mad!!! [Post edited 2 Jun 22:56]

Every retail or similar establishment seems to be playing a shyte but ear worm Coldplay tune, im cursed. I had this idea for a song with the lyric ‘Every where I go I keep hearing Coldplay’ That’s as far as I got. |

Some games I’ve refereed I have taken air out of a ball. Cheap ish balls can be too hard (c Finbar) I imported some decent yellow Mitre balls for my teams. Train in and use them for games. Might sound ridiculous but when used I think better quality games and practices. |

The Lino can throw the main referee under the bus totally unintentionally. Flagging for everything not letting the ref have the first look. As soon as the Lino puts the flag up that gives an opportunity for coaches and players to pipe up, regardless. Its tough. Some linos get involved too much. Lino puts the flag up for offside and you think it isn’t. You almost always have to go with the Lino as not to start a ruckess from the coaches and spectators. Grudges are held. Here in Maryland it’s a no tolerance policy and if spectators cause problems the coach has to deal with it. Yellow and red cards a lot more common now. I used to let a lot go because of my personality. Now for the good of the game and stopping young refs leave I act accordingly. Lots of good training here in MD. As soon as you meet the other officials you get a vibe how the game might go. I had a shocker a few weeks ago, it happens. Last week a parent piped up about a decision and I asked him if he was a qualified referee. He replied he did know the rules even if the pass back rule is still somewhat subjective. Got told later he was an MLS referee. Lesson learnt. |

Checking the garage door is closed before I drive off. If I don’t I drive around the block to check. Maddening! I did leave it open one day and I do live in Baltimore with opportunists and strange bedfellows skulking around a plenty. That’s why. Still maddening |

That explains my upbringing. Met these two Guys called Pepe and John at a hairdressers gathering in Hawaii. Insisted on telling everybody they were from London. Got chatting and turned out they were actually from Peterborough. Seen them a few times since, they avoid me. Even my sensible wife thinks it’s funny. [Post edited 16 May 15:53]
