Three clubs are determined to try and encourage Kyle Joseph to join their squads for the rest of this season. Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth, all big clubs in league one are all vying for the attackers loan signature.
As we reported on Monday Kyle will be leaving Swansea City in the very near future. That near future is now upon us and the swans will release him to the club that has the most chance of giving him one more seasons development, and of course who can meet his salary. The latter hardly an issue.

Kyle is still highly thought of at Swansea and due to the level he is aiming to move to it’s unlikely that the swans permanent transfer fee can be met by any interested club. That being said, we have asked the question and we have been told six to seven hundred thousand pounds would turn the clubs heads. Kyle doesn’t want to leave Swansea, and Russell Martin see’s his development over the last six months as encouraging. That validates his decision in January to recall him from a loan spell at Cheltenham Town. The club now believe another developmental spell in league one at a better club will determine his future at Swansea.
As much as swans fans will be asking the question regards Liam Cullen as opposed to Kyle Joseph, we are also aware at this point there has been little real interest in Liam compared to Morgan Whittaker and Kyle who are perceived as brighter prospects by league one clubs. Liam had a difficult time at Lincoln City last season. Morgan Whittaker is now at Plymouth is a good example. Kyle Joseph leaving the club on loan won’t make a huge dent in the clubs finances but it will give Russell Martin some space within his squad. Martin stated earlier today "Maybe people turned this job down before we came because of the limitations they were going to have financially. But it's a challenge we have embraced. We know what we have to work with, we try to do the very best we can within that." What the swans boss is saying isn’t untrue, but how it will be perceived is another thing all together.
He really doesn’t have to reinforce what we all already know. However, the club continues to sign million pound plus players fairly regularly.
The finances are tight, and clearly the majority owners are running the club on transfer sales and other ancillary income, and unless a loan or investment from a connected interested party comes in, that’s how it will be. We expect Kyle Joseph to leave the club over the next few days, and when he does we wish him well. He can be a class act and has a big figure future ahead of him, but evidently not at Swansea City this season. Which for us is a great shame.
