Ben Wilmot 23:03 - Oct 6 with 2755 views | Chief | Surely time to put the 6ft 2 man in the middle of the park to add some presence. Byers, Carroll, Grimes, Fulton, Dhanda, much of a muchness. Get something different in there.

Ben Wilmot on 23:55 - Oct 6 with 2682 views | Birchgrovejack | Its a strange one this, he's only featured in carabao cup games so far, he could've done that at watford. I suppose we havent really had any games where we've comfortable to bring him on for 20 mins at the end. If he's good enough you'd think Cooper would have used him to rotate the squad whn we have mid week games but hes keeping the same line up more often than not.....but then Dhanda has come in and i cant see him being worse than him (i know they are different positions, just a comparison of standard). It's not even as if Grimes and Fulton have been outstanding to keep him out, they've both been pretty mediocre so far, despite our lofty position.

Either as a CB; ----------------------- Woodman --------------------------- ------------------------- Wilmot ----------------------------- ------ Van der Hoorn ----------- Rodon ------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ Roberts -------- Fulton --- Byers --------- Bidwell/Grimes ------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------- Celina ------------------------------ --------------- Ayew -------------- Baston ------------------ Or as a DM; ----------------------- Woodman --------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Van der Hoorn -- Rodon --------------------- Roberts ------------------------------------------ Bidwell ------------------------- Wilmot ---------------------------- ---------------- Byers ----------- Celina ------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dyer/Ayew/Kalulu ------------- Routledge/Peterson/McKay -------------------------- Baston ----------------------------

Ben Wilmot on 01:26 - Oct 7 with 2617 views | TimTtam | Glad more people are catching on to this idea. I pointed out in another thread, he could fit in as a DM in a narrow 4-1-2-1-2 formation (if Cooper liked playing narrow) or simply as another midfielder in a formation that allows 3 midfielders.

Ben Wilmot on 01:49 - Oct 7 with 2612 views | PozuelosSideys | Watford fans think hes a waste of time as a DCM as he doesnt have the athletic ability nor able to read the game well enough in that role. They all seem to feel he has the makings of an excellent CB however.

Yea it's pretty obvious he was signed as cover at centre back. Points to poor recruitment - we've needed muscle in the midfield for years, last year Fer was thrown in there purely because he was the biggest of the midfielders in the squad.

Cooper brought in a number of youngsters who he had connections with or his staff knew before he had time to assess what we had. Only Woodman and Bidell have commanded their places in the starting lineup. Had we not brought these players in we would not have been any worse off. (I get the Nordfeldt and Mulder are rubbish mantra but neither would have let us down and there is virtually no difference between Bidewell and John.) Peterson, Surridge, Wilmott, Kalulu are all paving to be pale imitations of players we already had. Having seen Wilmott's willingness to come forward from CB (Cabango covering) and a degree of grit I'd be more than happy to use him as a DCM wth an experienced player infant of him. Goalkeeper Naughton Hoorn Rodon Grimes ................ Wilmot .......... Carroll ....... Dyer .........Ayew ....... Routledge Borja

Played there last season and IMO is a better option than John and Bidwell. He is not performing at midfield so either he moves position or drops to the bench.

Maybe they're right at Prem level but he may be a decent DCM at Championship level. Who knows, maybe bringing him on for the last 20 to stiffen our centre and to break up play in front of our back 4 in any of the last 3 home games may have prevented at least one of those really late goals and we could have a point or 2 more than we currently do. Our defence is generally ok but when our midfield was clearly not able to stop the opposition from getting at our back 4, another big bloke in front doing some tackling and picking up runners trying to break through our defensive line could make enough of a difference.

Just reading how little game time two of our alleged targets Vaulks and Woods are getting at Cardiff and Stoke respectfully. Either one of those behind Grimes and we’d be at full strength. And likely to feature in the top two .

The Woodman comment is ridiculous. We would be worse off without him (see last years highlights to back that argument up)
