I am currently writing a book which will include a complete chapter on the life and times of George Kirby, a rough and ready centre forward who played at the Vetch Field in the 1964-65 season. On 5 December 1964 he was sent off at Huddersfield. He was such a hard man that I am surprised that it took until his 236th first team game (including those for Everton, Sheffield W, Plymouth, Southampton, Coventry and Swansea). I am looking for details of that sending off and also any memories from fans who recall George playing for Town (as they were then). |  |
