I can see you are an advocate of the style and that's absolutely fine..
Me less so.
I was not on my own, the groans became more audible as the second half progressed on Saturday. It is fine to view it differently.
Of course winning trumps everything and so far the results side of this season have been nothing short of miraculous... I am enjoying the regular 3 points and the clean sheets / mean defense.. I do have a concern we might get caught cold when it matters and February will be the judge.
Well I predict they will close us down quicky and not allow our quarter back anywhere near as much time on the ball..
This will lead to extra pressure and mid placed passes that might cost us..
First half yesterday we scored 2 great goals .. missed a penalty and hit the woodwork twice… I have no idea why I still feel we shortchanged ourselves. I guess it’s because all that action was inside 30 minutes so that left 15 minutes of football that was ponderous and boring.
The Mani D cameo was encouraging BUT all his good hold up play was with his back to goal a long way from any threat.
We sit second, 80% win rate is incredible… we are going to enter now a potentially title winning 5 week period. The side that finishes top on March 01st I think will go on to win the coverted auto promotion 1st place.
First of all a win is a win and our dream season continues.
20 wins from 25 games (80%) is unbelievable.
Regarding our latest win regardless of XG bollox I thought we we too slow moving the ball around and Hogan (under instructions I know) the main culprit. Back to the walking football of last season and I could hear groans around me, it’s an attritional watch.
Then there is our wastefulness in front of goal.. taking that extra touch… playing that extra pass… if we can find that missing X factor in front of goal for Southend and the February we will run York really close.
We have a fantastic set of players and the management team are all experienced. I agree with handbrake off time…..
Southend is huge.. they looked more than decent in the abandoned game they will not allow the defensive slow build so Tuesday will be one to show us all how we will fair in the next 5/6 weeks v the bigger guns of the division.
No desire at all to jump and nod into an empty goal!!
I can only think brain fog and for a split second though he was defending as he seems to attempt a back heel away from goal...
Baffling.
If we are serious about winning the league we have to be more ruthless in front of goal we currently average less than 2 goals a game and are 7th in the goals scored table.
York 66 Goals Boreham Wood 51 Carlisle 49 Solihiull 48 Aldershot 46 Forest Green 45 Dale 44
In different circumstances I am pretty sure Scunthorpe were rightly awarded 3 points in one of the two games?
It was the correct decision to abandon yesterday and a replayed game the only answer.
Whilst not like the 77th minute the ball was not rolling properly at end of the first half. The water hog effort should have taken place for 20 minutes at half time, the grounds team prodding at the pitch with a fork would have had zero effect. The game might still not have finished but it would have given the game more of a chance.
Blackburn A-A in similar circumstances at a similar time shows how much rain fell between 2-5pm.
Away in the Cup next Saturday then a reset for Alty away and a tricky few weeks until we return to Spotland for the Truro game.
