But did we clarify which axis we wanted to flip 90° on?
If we rotate on the z it would make the coin toss very important

Agreed, Morgan has Little Tom Carroll vibes. Always ready to receive a ball and try and make a forward pass, even if it doesn't work.

This can stand out in a midfield where we've seen Field and Varane make safe 5yd passes sideways and backwards all season

I don't think its a secret, but when we buy a player the reported money will be cheapest deal for the club, when we sell a player the reported fee will be the highest one.

So, Armstrong could have been £2.5m if he had scored X goals, won X international caps, gone to the moon, married Heidi Klum etc..

Getting any money for a player is a big step on from paying up their contracts so they can leave, which is what we used to do

I think JS is probably well into his McClaren phase, where he is now worried about losing a few games in a row and getting fired.

This means he'd rather shut out the opposition with a "team of men" than take some chances with the youth.

Maybe I'm wrong, but from what I've seen with Morgan sometimes those forward passes don't come off, so the manager is preferring to keep possession?
Kolli? I don't know, maybe he sees something in training, or doesn't see something?

Personally I'd like to have seen him have a run of games, the trouble is he's not a replacement for Burrell, which is what the manager is looking for and hoping Bennie would be.

Bennie is still young, so I wouldn't write him off, but he was terrible in that last match, along with most of the team.

This next run of games is very difficult and six more of those performances could see the board making another move, which is not really what the club needs after looking at these accounts

A few of the older players left. The Captain of that team (Harry), who I thought was good just went to Bracknell town. But, he was 21 and nowhere near our first team, so there you go.

I also like Alfie Tuck, who is still around, but he needs to bulk up if he is going to succeed in men's football.

I guess Bennie and Esquardina will count as a move from DS to first team for this season?

I don't know what they count as a win now though, is it 2 or 3 players breaking through each year?
Or, is it ultimately when we manage to sell someone on who has come through?

The Caraboa cup has a prize of £100k for the winners, so depending on what you believe that's maybe a month or less of Steve Cooks wages?

It's £2.1m for the FA cup though, which sounds like a lot to us, but again maybe explains why some of the Premier League teams treat it how we did the League cup and field their B or C teams until the very latter stages...

Obviously TV money comes into play as well, but I just don't think the incentive is there anymore for average clubs trying to meet their budgets to risk their first teams for those extra games.

This year for example, Nourry was able to say we played the youngest squad since black and white television, which describes some success of the youth system? In truth, I thought winning the DS cup already showed that, but hey ho...

Is it looking at the seasons independently?
So, this is the first sticky spell of 25/26?

Because I'm 100% sure we had a sticky spell in 24/25 as well, which is why we've got so many people with performance in their job title now

Wasn't that the switch after the 7-1 to a counter attacking (direct) model?
If we want to do fast counter attacks then we rely on the other team having the ball.

Are Millwall also set up the same? I agree it is more running, and harder without the ball, but I'm not sure our players are as prepared as they can be.

Maybe someone needs to shout at them more in the canteen, do we have someone to do that in the backroom staff?

Budget?
at 14:33 17 Feb 2026

It's very rare for our club to advertise what the goals are for any specific year isn't it?

I can remember the club saying the aim is to avoid relegation a few times.
I can even remember Warburton declaring a tilt at the playoffs.

But, I think the aims are slightly different now. If I had to guess its still
* Avoid Relegation
Then its
* Give minutes to younger players to improve their value.
* Sell your best player/s
* Sell / Release older players with no resale value on higher contracts
* Buy cheaper prospects on low wages
Rinse and repeat etc..

Bit grim to watch all of that. Does the club keep on trying to do this in the hope we become one of the 5% of football league clubs that actually make money?

I dunno?

I guess having the training ground is a massive tick in the box, moving it to Cat 1 would be great again. Finding another Eze would be the dream?

Is 5k a lot though? I'd have thought a professional athlete can easily run 5k in less than 20'
I realise they are not doing a Parkrun, but even that scumbag Barton could cover more than 12k in a match.
-- usually about a metre behind an opposition player, as I recall

I think you are right. pitchside or in the dugout means something.
I think Bould was being very careful to say he's not a part of the matchday staff, so doesn't get to sit there.

Not that he won't go to the games, or work from Dubai

Did Bright and Manning leave because the club messed them around?

Doesn't Manning have form for running his contract down so he can leave on a free and pocket a signing on fee?

If either player wanted bigger contracts than they were worth to stay at QPR, then the club did the right thing by not agreeing to keep them on.

This seems to have changed under Nourry, with Dunne being a recent example of the club stretching to keep a player here, who is probably not within our model of young and hungry with room to grow, then sell for a profit.

Probably need some perspective here.
Kealy Adamson is probably on about £3k a week, so is a very low risk signing. If it works it could be great, but its probably not the type of expensive we need to lose any sleep over. It's not the same as signing Asmir Begovic on a long contract...

I loved Warburton, he spoke very clearly and there was never any ambiguity with what he said, but don't forget his last season when he had his big push for playoffs left us with some large contracts with Austin and Johanson that killed the budget for the next couple of years.

In truth I think it was his attitude towards the development squad that did for him. He blocked pathways to the first team because he didn't think anyone was good enough.
-- I think time has vindicated this, and it would be interesting to see him in that position again, where his ethos might match the CEO.

Keeping >21 year olds around just in case doesn't happen anymore at HQ and thats probably a good thing

Can you just name the 'Boro team? They were looking very good the other night.
Although, that team as it is now probably loses most weeks in the Prem...

Just looked at whoscored.com
Carlton Morris at the top of the stats, wouldn't have picked him out, goes to prove what I know!

QPR being sued
at 10:23 13 Feb 2026

Thats a much easier case, as the damages and effect are more obvious.
In this situation an insurance policy would cover the players salary while he was injured for the full duration of the contract. I'd assume that the club would also be using the private medical cover to ensure the best care available.

At the point where its deemed career ending the player could use the PFA to initiate a tribunal for loss of future earnings against the player and opposing club. They could also seek to say that the challenge was unlawful outside the rules of the game, like a common assault or GBH, but that might be harder to prove.

If the player were to go down this road, then it might be the parent club helping them to describe the potential career path and earnings of the player.

I'd imagine this case would normally be settled before court, unless Crawley and QPR think there is nothing there at all...
