Swansea captain Garry Monk has bemoaned the situation that means they are - but may not be - champions of League One

Although they have celebrated the league title after defeat on Saturday the Swans could still find the silverware snatched from them if the courts rule that Leeds deduction of 15 points at the start of the season was wrong.

A full refund of those points will see the gap cut to just one point with two games to go although the Swans could still secure the silverware on Saturday if they win and Leeds lose.

''I just can't see them getting 15 points,'' Monk told the Evening Post, ''but I can't believe we still don't know for sure at this stage of the season.

''It's ridiculous that it hasn't been sorted out, but I think they have prolonged it to May 1 for a reason.

''I think they want to see where other teams are and what points they've got and then they'll make a decision on Leeds.

''I think they might get some points back, but I think it will depend on what other teams are on and I think they've been quite clever about it.

''I think that's the way they are going to go because I can't see why else they would have left it so late,'' he added.

''It's a question of whether they upset one club or a whole division and teams in other leagues,'' added Monk.

''If we were in Leeds's position, we'd be saying we'd won the points on the pitch and we'd be trying to get them back.

''But to leave it to this stage of the season, when so many teams are involved in different situations, is ridiculous.

''It takes some of the edge off our celebrations and the Leeds thing is on our mind. The main thing is promotion and that is guaranteed.

''But we want to win the title as well. As it stands we have won it, but we will have to wait and see in the next couple of weeks whether we have.''

Swans manager Roberto Martinez is though expecting his side to pick up the silverware at home to Leyton Orient next weekend

''We expect the trophy at the Liberty Stadium next weekend,'' he said.

''To have that in front of our own fans will give us a great opportunity to celebrate.''

''There's no doubt in my mind that we are right to celebrate,'' Martinez stressed.

''Fifa and Uefa don't like it when things are taken outside football, and I don't want to lose any time thinking about the Leeds situation.

''I think if the decision goes against the football rules, if you want, you're going to get a big, big problem. People will take it a bit further and they'll be right to do that.''

''It's a little disappointing that we didn't seal it with a win, but the fact that we can lose to Yeovil and still achieve our dream speaks volumes about the season we've had,'' the Spaniard added.

''Some people feel as though we are not allowed to celebrate because we lost the game, but this is a day where everybody attached to Swansea City should be very proud.

''The fans deserve it first and foremost, and after that it's about the hard work of the staff and the players and the support and right attitude from the board.''

''I'm very proud of my players,'' Martinez said.

''The success they've had didn't come by accident. It's down to their effort and determination to be successful, and there's nothing better than having a medal to show for that.''

Some bookmakers have already paid out on a Swans league title although others are hedging their bets and waiting for the result of arbitration whilst most of the sports media have declared the Swans as champions of League One.

Which of course we currently are.
