Boyd On The Move

Serna's agent Manasse said Serna is also upset with the ethnic makeup of the Fusion; he would like to see more ``Haitians, Hondurans, Costa Ricans and Jamaicans, guys with green cards whom the team could sign.'' Told the Fusion is one of the most diverse teams in MLS -- with a Colombian (Serna), two Jamaican national team players (Andy Williams and Tyrone Marshall), a Colombian-American (Carlos Llamosa), a Peruvian-American (Coquito Cubillas), a Brazilian (Welton), a Cuban-American (Henry Gutiérrez), an Argentine-American (Pablo Mastroeni) and draft picks with Jamaican and African backgrounds. Manasse replied: ``Yes, but I'm talking about guys like [Jamaican] Walter Boyd or a top player from the Haitian national team, guys who could help their attendance.'' Manasse represents Boyd and has inquired about getting the Fusion to sign him. With only three foreigner slots open, the team has not been able to work out a deal. ``Diego has asked to meet with the owner [Ken Horowitz], and they said no,'' Manasse said. Hamilton said it is not Horowitz's job to negotiate contracts. MLS contracts are negotiated through the league office in New York.
