It's Our Stadium - There's Only One Option

It's Our Stadium - Just The One Option

The new Stadium has a primary use for sport and so it is not only just the name of the Stadium should be titled after a legend that the City has brought upon the world of sport. Of course this will bring about the argument as to what legend the Stadium should be named after, and this may cause offence to the rugby fraternity, but this stadium is being developed for the Swans. The Swans provide more coverage and publicity for the City than any other organisation in the area. Ask the Sports public who the fly half of the Whites is and then ask them have they heard of Lee Trundle.

'The greatest advert for any town or City is its professional football team' these are the words of Lawrie McMenemy who spoke at a VP dinner when the Swans were in the old 1st Division. It will be the biggest draw to the City and Corporate society will be only too eager to get on board the next sporting development when it is completed. To this end there really is only one name in the frame for the Stadium and that is of course 'Allchurch' Here is a legend that is spoken of , not in hushed terms but with voices raised from the rafters. Not only Jacks eulogise this giant ask the dyed in the wool Geordie. This man was a true gent, he oozed class both on and off the pitch and his feet were always planted firmly on the ground. What finer epitaph can the City of Swansea give to its greatest ever footballer than to name the new stadium after him. he would look down on us and puff his chest out and sing with us as a full 'Allchurch" stadium sang on the Swans to victory after victory. This club have produced footballers that have graced the world stage and it is only fitting that one of these is rightfully honoured in this way.The other stands of course will be named after sporting legends Charles,Ford,Jones, Nurse, Davies, Gibbs, Fowler, James are some of the legends that we should consider. What better way for the City to go forward than to celebrate its past, whilst showing the rest of the world of its desire to grow and develop into a modern thriving and unique centre, than to have the 'Allchurch' as its jewel in its crown The Council on its own website has said that it wishes to develop into a modern city along the lines of Barcelona. We do not want to be bigger than Barcelona (we leave that to others) we want to be known as Swansea City and wherever we go in the world people will come up to us and say what an impact we have on the world. I never saw Ivor play ( i am too young) but my elders memories and the stories they have told me have instilled in me the "Swansea way" a way in which honesty, skill, endeavour and spirit shines and shows itself for what it is. It is the way we are and how we should stay I for one look forward to my first visit at the 'Allchurch'
