One time Swansea target Kiegan Parker has revealed that the Swans offered Blackpool £250,000 for his services last August.

Parker was a target for the Swans both last summer and in the January transfer window and Parker told the Yorkshire Evening Post that we came in on both occasions with a firm bid to Blackpool.

Both bids, say the player, were rejected although he cannot understand why the bid last summer was turned down as, he says, he had already told Blackpool that he had no intention of signing a new contract with them.

Parker was released at the end of last season and will play next at the Galpharm Stadium for Huddersfield hoping to repeat the League One success he enjoyed with Blackpool back in 2006/7.   He scored the final goal in the play offs that season as the Seasiders got their return to Championship level.

Parker told the YEP “I didn't play much and only started eight or nine games last season.

"It wasn't due to football matters, more to do with the fact that I didn't sign a new contract. That's what happens at clubs where you don't sign one.

"The people at Blackpool didn't deal with it in the right way.

"They got offered £250,000 in August from Swansea and they never took it, whereas they knew I wasn't signing a new contract then.

"If they are going to lose someone at the end of the season, why not take the 250 grand and just move on?

"It came to January and they got offered 100-odd thousand from Swansea, but were wanting £200,000 and there were only six months of my contract to go. And Barnsley were the only team that came in with that.

"I felt at the time it was a sideways step. They were struggling at the time and it was just before they did well in the FA Cup.

"The moment I was involved in Huddersfield, Doncaster were really keen as well. Southampton also were until their manager got sacked and that (interest) was nailed on. Before last season ended, I had a few clubs such as Southampton and Swansea, who wanted to take me on loan.

"It could worked out differently and I could have been at Swansea, but they got brassed off with the way Blackpool were acting and being too stubborn."
