Roberto Martinez says his side's lack of Championship experience is not a cause for concern

Roberto was speaking after his side notched up a 2-0 victory in their second match in Spain - their fifth pre-season victory in six games.

Goals from Tom Butler and Guillem Bauza were enough to secure the victory and Roberto says he is happy with the way things are progressing and whilst he admits his side has little experience at this level, it is not a concern to him.

Optimism amongst the fan base is reasonably high following the summer recruitment campaign with just a couple of positional additions to be made and with the new season just under two weeks away, fans are backing the Swans campaign wih cash for high positions in the league.

But former Swans boss and current Wales manager John Toshack said yesterday that the Swans lack of experience at this level could be their downfall and that they would do well to survive in a long tough season, but those are comments that don't seem to have worried Roberto as he told Wales Online: “What John Toshack said is true – we don’t have that experience at Championship level.

“But I would rather have it that way. This football club is going forward with a new stadium and hungry players trying to reach the dream of the Premier League.

“We do not have the experience and he is right when he says it will be very, very tough but we can also show we are good enough that we don’t have to rely on experience.

“And not having many players who have been there before is not a concern in that respect.

“I am happy with my squad but the challenge is now to be competitive in the Championship but we will be competing against teams who can spend £3million on players. We are not in that situation and we have gone another way about it.”
