Dorus De Vries believes that he should start the South Wales derby on Sunday at the Liberty

Swansea City entertain their local rivals Cardiff City at the Liberty on Sunday and De Vries is in battle with Dimi Konstantopoulos for the goalkeeping spot.

Dimi has come in and played some solid performances since arriving at the club whilst De Vries was thrust back into action on Tuesday because of the terms of the loan deal for Dimi which meant he could not play against his club.

And De Vries hopes that it could be a case of possession being 9/10ths of the law as Roberto ponders the decision between the two goalkeepers.

"I hope I have done enough in the 75 or so games I have played for Swansea to keep my place for the Cardiff game," de Vries told the Evening Post.

"I think I showed that I was one of the most consistent and regular keepers in League One last season and I think I've done the same in the Championship.

"I am critical about myself and my performances and I know I have still got a lot of growth in me.

"But I think I have done well enough in my time here. I am really positive and I am looking forward to the next game.

"I had some trouble with my back last week and I felt some pain with the first save because the ball was hit hard right into my chest," de Vries added.

"But it was great to be back out on the pitch and the facial injury doesn't matter to me anymore.

"I got a kick in the face, I think from Tom Butler, and I was okay with that, so hopefully I can get rid of the mask pretty soon.

"I have got some great memories of the Carling Cup game," he said.

"It was the kind of atmosphere you don't even imagine in your dreams, and I can still hear the crowd singing now.

"These are the games you train for, you live for, and hopefully we can make it two out of two."
