Rangel Knows He Has Family Backing

Angel Rangel loves cup runs and knows his family will be watching back at home as the Swans look for history

The Swansea City defender is more than likely to return to action tomorrow as the team pitch for a place in the FA Cup quarter final - a berth they have not held since 1964.

Rangel missed last week's destruction of Ipswich at the Liberty but is almost certain to come back into the side at the expense of Albert Serran against their Premiership opponents.

And thanks to the live TV coverage of the game, Rangel knows his family back in Spain will be watching the game and he told the Evening Post "The TV channels go around the world, so my family will be watching back in Spain

"Everybody in my village knows Swansea City are on the TV and most of them will be watching the game

"They have become Swansea fans from a distance since I came here and they follow the club via the internet or the papers.

"It does not happen every day, but every week I get phone calls or emails from back home congratulating me on how we are doing.

"It's a nice village where I'm from, between a mountain and the sea.

"There is a local team where I played until I was 15.

"The people support them and Barcelona, but I think it's more Swansea than Barca now.

"To be honest, I didn't know a lot about the FA Cup until I started playing professionally, but then I began to realise what it is about.

"The difference between the Copa del Rey and the FA Cup is that one is only really followed in Spain and the other is followed all around the world.

"That is why the FA Cup is so exciting.

"They are doing well in the Premier League and it will be a tough game for us," Rangel says.

"But we are at home, we have our fans behind us, and we are in our best form of the season.

"We had nothing to lose against Portsmouth in the last round and it's the same again now.

"The only difference is that we are more confident. We feel we are a better team and we feel we can beat anyone if we play well."
