Cornell Signs One Year Deal At Oldham

Former Swansea goalkeeper David Cornell has signed a one year contract at Oldham Athletic where he will compete for a first team spot.

Cornell, who was released from Swansea at the end of last season, was widely expected to join Crewe but he has now agreed terms with Oldham after the interest from the Alex never materialised.

Cornell's first team opportunities at Swansea were very limited having played third choice for most of his time here at the club so there was no surprise when he was released at the end of last season.

The Swans also released Gerhard Tremmel at the time but the summer signing of Kristoffer Nordfeldt has given some competition to Lukasz Fabianski although the club remain on the hunt for a third choice goalkeeper at the same time.
