Monk: I'm Very Happy With The Squad I Have

I am sure if you asked Garry Monk back in May what his summer would have looked like then you would have got an answer that is very close to how it has panned out over the past few months.

The addition of four new faces and the loss of none of last season's squad has made for an excellent time for the Swans boss who is heading towards his second full season in management.

You can sometimes forget that the boss is as new as that to his leadership role such is the success that he has seen in his time in charge at Swansea having led his side to a record breaking term last time around.

And with no departures from that squad you have to fancy our chances of an equally as successful season this time around especially when you factor in the capture of the four new signings we have made this summer

Kristioffer Nordfeldt, Eder, Andre Ayew and Franck Tabanou have all been added to the squad this summer and were all added early on meaning that the Swans have had a full pre-season campaign to work with their new arrivals which will stand them in good stead when the season opens in just ten days time

And whilst he is not ruling out the possibility of new additions it seems less and less likely that more will come in but that is not something that concerns Monk as he told the Alan Brazil sports breakfast on TalkSport this morning

“As a manager, you’re always looking to improve the squad,” said Monk.

“We recruited really well last season, which was really important - we moved 12 players out and brought eight back in. This year we’ve brought four in and we managed to get it done early, which is great for the preparation for the season which is vitally important.

“Of course, there’s the possibility of doing a bit more business, but I’m very happy with the squad I have.”
