Under-21s Beaten At Derby

Oliver McBurnie continued his impressive form for the Under 21s by finding himself on the scoresheet again against Derby but it was all in vain as the team lost 2-1 to their hosts.

McBurnie had headed the Swans in front just before the hour mark, Max Lowe got Darren Wassall’s side back on level terms with a fluke clearance from the left following heavy pressure from the home side.

Little more than 120 seconds had elapsed when Ivan Calero tapped in a teasing right wing cross to complete the comeback as Derby recorded their second Barclays Under 21 Premier League — Division 2 win of the season.

Swansea City: Vickers (Zabret, 45), Shephard, Alfei, Fulton, Rodon, Gogic, Biabi, Sheehan, McBurnie, Jones, Hedges

Substitutes not used: Jones, Davies

Swans coach Gary Richards: “We have not reached the levels we have performed in the first three games tonight.

“We did not control the game or pass the ball enough losing possession too much when it counted meaning the game became stretched.

“We were not at our best first-half but started the second much brighter with Ollie McBurnie scoring at a good time for us.

“But Derby have kept pushing and equalised through a freak goal that has caught-out Gregor (Zabret) and punished our defending minutes later with the second goal."
