Curtis On An Excellent Point

A point at Crystal Palace took the Alan Curtis caretaker regime to five points from twelve available and left the Swans outside of the relegation zone at the end of play as the Premier League season reached its halfway point this afternoon.

Curtis may still maintain that he does not want the job on a permanent basis but with three clean sheets in those four games he is doing a sterling job to keep the Swans season going whilst the board look for a permanent replacement for Garry Monk who was sacked earlier this month.

Curtis showed that he is not afraid to make a decision either having made eight changes from the side that started against West Brom at the Liberty on Saturday. Those eight changes includes starts for the likes of Matt Grimes and Marvin Emnes as he rotated his squad more in these two games than Garry Monk seemingly managed in the first three months of the season.

And he was naturally delighted after the game as he reflected on the 0-0 draw "It was an excellent point against a very good Crystal Palace team. They showed today why they are where they are in the table. We’re unbeaten in three with three clean sheets. That’s a huge improvement on where we’ve been of late.

“No one let us down. A few players were tired out there. Jordi Amat’s calves were screaming at the end. We made a few more changes than we wanted because of little niggles.

“I’ve got to say I’m enjoying the job, but as I said to Palace boss Alan Pardew at the end, I don’t know how he keeps going as a full-time manager. I’ve only done it for two weeks, and my voice has gone, looks have gone and my hair’s starting to go!"
