Swans Enquire About Liverpool Defender
Tuesday, 10th Jan 2017 22:03 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

The Swans are being reported as to having made an enquiry to Liverpool about defender Mamadou Sakho who seems set for a move away from Anfield although a rumoured £20m fee could well be enough to see us quickly out of the running.

The BBC report that we are interested in signing a player who has become out of favour at Anfield following some off the field problems.

The defender was sent home from Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States by manager Jurgen Klopp as a disciplinary measure.

He was also handed a 30-day suspension by Uefa in April for testing positive for a prohibited substance following a Europa League tie against Manchester United the previous month.

There were reports yesterday that Southampton were also keeping tabs on Sakho as a long term replacement for want away captain Jose Fonte and are more likely as a result to be able to match the fee that Liverpool want.

However, there remains the chance that Liverpool may be prepared to let Sakho leave on loan which could keep us in the running.

Galatasaray and Sevilla could also be interested
