Links Still There With Liverpool Defender

The Swans are still being linked with Liverpool defender Manadou Sakho as they look to add defensive cover to a unit that has conceded more Premier League goals this season than any other.

We are certainly missing the addition of a central defender to our line up this season and Sakho meets many of the bills that the Swans would be looking for including the fact that he is out of favour at Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp would allow him to leave.

As you would expect we are not alone in courting the services of the 26 year old with both Southampton and Crystal Palace interested. The Saints are rumoured to be at the front of the queue having lost Jose Fonte to West Ham and having Virgil Van Dijk ruled out for three months due to injury.

Liverpool ideally are reported to want a permanent move for Sakho but would be prepared to listen to loan offers if this was not possible and that potentially brings the Swans into the market as a permanent move seems unlikely at this point.

Sakho has also been linked with a move to Marseille although he says this is unlikely due to his ties with PSG “I think Marseille have a very good team. Bafé (Gomis) and Pat (Evra) are friends of mine. But my answer to this might remind certain people about a song. When there is PSG, Sakho is with them" he told the Liverpool Echo.

He is clearly though much more after remaining in this country “Since I started this incredible adventure abroad, in terms of football but also in terms of my family, because when I see my children speaking English I think it is a glorious thing that I have been able to give them. I think I have a few more wonderful years to experience abroad first.

“I work a lot, I have the chance to train with the reserve team , which allows me to keep up. And beside that I have my trainer. So I work a lot to stay on top of my game.“
