So Where Would We Go From Here?

Tonights reports suggest that Everton are ready to pull the plug on any deal that could take Gylfi Sigurdsson to Goodison Park leaving the Swans with a big hole in their transfer plans because I am convinced that they have been anticipating a deal all summer.

This is one of those moments where it is fair enough to play hardball but if it means the collapse of the deal then we get the plus side of retaining a quality player but with a massive disruption to the squad as well as holes in our transfer plans.

I don't suspect there is many Swansea fans who believed that anything other than Gylfi ending up at Everton come the end of the transfer window but both the Telegraph and Sky Sports are reporting this evening that talks have broken down and the deal could well be off.

That would mean either the door is open for Leicester City or Gylfi will remain a Swansea player through the transfer window - something which was odds against even as recently as the end of last week.

If the deal is indeed called off then you can almost guarantee that it could be the end of the Swans transfer dealings this summer which would be as surprising as it is disappointing.

For what it is worth what I believe is happening here is the classic "deal is off" release - usually by the buying club - before an agreement is reached days later.
