MK Dons not at all happy with Swansea City
Saturday, 31st Jul 2021 12:19 by David Cornish & Keith Haynes

It seems no matter the way you go these days, the way you go will be wrong. As we know the swans approached MK Dons a few days ago, but the Dons kept it quiet and felt the timing was inappropriate. Based on that it’s pretty much never a good time to approach a club for their successful manager.

An MK Dons club statement was released which confirmed an official approach by Swansea City on Friday, which we reject out of hand. The clubs have been speaking all week. However, official and unofficial are often confused by some, so when does an approach become official ? Who cares, but here it is anyway.

MK Dons can confirm that an official approach has been made by Swansea City to speak to Russell Martin regarding their vacant managerial position. To our extreme disappointment, this was received less than 24 hours prior to our first competitive fixture of the season. To minimise disruption to our players and our match preparation, it was decided that this would be discussed after today’s game. It was not our intention to release a statement until after discussions regarding the approach had taken place but given the intense media speculation, we felt it necessary to confirm the situation to both our players this morning and to our supporters before the game. The Club will make no further comment at this time while we focus on this afternoon’s fixture

You can understand their disappointment, but they are a club which has never really stood in the way of departing managers in the past, so okay it’s an annoyance but when is there a good time for an approach ? It’s not as if it has been a secret all week.

If the ‘real journalists’ are to be believed then it’s a done deal, Twitter went running to Tom Coleman at Wales on Line ( sir, sir, please tell the nasty indys to stop it ) yesterday when we stated John Eustace had been given the opportunity to reconsider his rejection from last weekend. For us here that’s a pretty decent move by Julian Winter, always set your ducks up properly before you knock them down. Knowing what ‘we’ know and from ‘who’ maybe Wales on Line should rethink their sources, especially when they dismissed the news as out of hand.

Pathetic.

We will continue to bring you the best sourced news that we can using everything at our disposal, and if that grinds a few gears then so be it, as we have said before we wouldn’t be doing the site or you justice if we didn’t.
