Swansea Independent : Our journey continues to be endorsed
Thursday, 28th Oct 2021 09:00 by Staff writers

Once again our fledgling website Swansea Independent has proven to be the source of not only national media reporting but local news sources as well. It was heartening yesterday that seven news agencies worldwide covered our stories on Russell Martin and Jay Fulton’s future at Swansea City.

It hasn’t all been plain sailing but our persistence is to report quality news based on a determined approach to validate our sources. Of course not only that to check and double check the information has led to the likes of Reuters and News International to do the same diligence before reporting our daily Swansea City news. It’s a long way from September 2020 when we first took over the network for carefully investigated Swansea information.

Nowadays we get multiple emails and contact from news agencies wanting to understand our transparent philosophy in determining what is and isn’t news worthy. Recognised social media sources have entrusted our reports and the turning point was on July 3rd of this year when we reported that Steve Cooper was at a serious Swansea City crossroads. Since then, three weeks before it was confirmed we reported Joel Piroe was a swans player. However, it hasn’t always been an easy journey, it’s difficult to predict the future, no matter how hard certain quarters, albeit a few, have attempted to undermine our free service to Wales premier football team.

When we started we had possibly 200,000 views a month, and the majority were undermining our work, and making spurious allegations about our ability to survive the successful history of the website as it was pre September 2020. It didn’t work, and it isn’t our way of saying ‘ Oh look at us ‘ we just think it’s important to sometimes shout a bit louder than the few who delight in a grammatical error, or a misspelling to gain some form of kudos.

Nowadays we have a million plus views a month, even during international breaks where we are firmly behind our national side we don’t suffer from a lack of interest. It’s only the start though, and proof was seen yesterday of the continued trust our fellow journalists have in their hard work.

Yesterday alone saw numerous news agencies reporting our news

Every website that reports Swansea City news is a fantastic forum for everyone. We have never tried at any time to undermine those websites. And you won’t find anything that does so from our editor, owner or staff writers. That only starts a series of bad feeling. We embrace everything Swansea City, we always have. There are no agendas, just a desire to be correct and informative, and those who think being first is the key to good journalism are lost in a misinformed ether of ego.

We will continue to do our very best to deliver content that is well researched and intelligently composed. Everything on the internet is there forever, yes we have made our mistakes but we learn from them, and that’s all about developing trust, and at times not only forgiving our dissenters but also understanding where we went wrong.

Today with over two hundred Swansea Independent features and reports being replicated world wide, and endorsed as a result of the trust we have developed over thirteen months we remain with our feet on the ground. We will do the very best we can as we have since day one, and that’s to report with a conscience at the very best level we can.

We hope you have enjoyed the journey so far, and seriously hope you will remain with us as we progress, develop and understand more of what we leave behind. And of course what is yet to come. Swansea Independent is a journey, it began as Idea, today it’s a little bit more than that.

Thank you.
