Welcome back Joe the Jack ! Swansea City Latest News
Friday, 8th Jul 2022 15:05 by Swansea Independent

Joe Allen has concluded his medical today and has agreed terms to sign for Swansea City. The current Wales international will sign as a free agent on a reduced contract compared to the one he was offered at Stoke City, his previous club. He also refused to enter in to talks with nine other championship clubs.

It’s been a long time coming, and Swansea City had to be very sure of funding for the return of Joe. Leon Britton wore the number seven shirt for the swans for eight years and Joe Allen’s name will be on that shirt this coming season.

There is news of more signings to come over the next two weeks or so and Russell Martin will be hoping a number of his players can either find clubs, be loaned out or permanently transferred. There are a host of names Martin wants either out the door or sorted with loans. Liam Cullen, Ryan Bennett, Jay Fulton, Liam Walsh ( now injured ) are prime candidates to leave. In Bennet’s and Fulton’s case their reluctance is as a result of their salaries not being matched elsewhere. Liam Cullen we understand won’t face that much if any game time next season along with Morgan Whittaker. Liam will be encouraged to go out again on loan, at least. For us Liam has reached his crossroads and needs a fresh challenge. In Morgan’s case the jury is out.

Of all the players that Swansea have available it’s Sheffield Wednesday who find Kyle Joseph the most desirable, we understand that talks between the clubs representatives ( make of that what you will ) have happened. Swansea are expecting g some movement on Kyle Joseph either from the owls or Portsmouth.

The return of Joe Allen is worthy of a smile at least this evening. A transfer which cannot fail as far as we are concerned.
