Rotherham United v Swansea City Facts, news and latest fitness check is positive
Saturday, 30th Jul 2022 12:02 by Swansea Independent

Ben Cabango is fit and raring to go after a summer of rehabilitation and hard work at Fairwood. That’s the positive for Russell Martin whilst Joe Allen is highly unlikely to feature in this opening game.

Rotherham are expected to be without new signing Jamie McCart, who recently signed on from St Johnstone, after the centre-back picked up a knock in the pre-season friendly with Crewe Alexandra last weekend. It remains to be seen whether Lee Peltier will be handed a debut, with the former Cardiff player completing a move to the Millers on Thursday. Meanwhile, for Swansea, this game is likely to come too soon for new signing Joe Allen, who remains sidelined through injury, while Liam Walsh is still out after rupturing his Achilles earlier in the summer. Ryan Bennett seems to be on some form of extended holiday and according to other swans websites ‘ Will not play for the club again’ Oh what comes around.

However, Ben Cabango is fit and that’s very positive for Martin. He could well be involved in south Yorkshire. Harry Darling, Matthew Sorinola and Nathan Wood could all be in line for their debuts. There is mixed opinion on the swans chances today, and overall this season especially with manager Russell Martin clearly wanting more players in. That tells us the delayed transfers of Jay Fulton, who could feature today and Ryan Bennett haven’t assisted the clubs finances with both players on big contracts.

However, the swans have what they have and will be looking to possibly the most dangerous strike partnership in the league to take something from this game. Joel Piroe and Michael Obafemi are both fit.

Swansea City have sold over 1,500 tickets for todays match.

For those based in Swansea that’s a lot of miles to travel and that is the story of the season.
