A not so quiet night but Wales followers behave impeccably
Thursday, 22nd Sep 2022 11:54 by @Cornish67David

As the travelling masses of Cymru gathered in Brussels from yesterday evening and on best behaviour all night here is some reflection on the evening. Fans from across Wales and far beyond with club loyalty put to one side gathered in the main square of plaza de la Bourse, as the strains of Dafydd Iwan's Yma O Hyd travelled across the city.

It was a wonderful sight and a passionate evening.

When followers of the national team gather you get the full flavour as to why they were awarded an ‘outstanding contribution’ to UEFA 2016 and since then have made a dramatic impact on matches away from home. From early morning hundreds flooded in to the city, and today hundreds more will follow suit.

Daffyd Cox originally from Betws-y-Coed and now resident in the Netherlands was full of praise for the travelling support “I love these games away from home, I can’t get enough of them. All the club boys are together, there’s no trouble and it’s just a big party. Anyone who doesn’t like this type of football trip hasn’t been in June”

Resourceful fans on the Apostle Welsh fans forum have referenced the many ways the red wall have made it to Belgium. “If you don't mind a 4-hour bus trip, FlixBus will get you into Brussels directly from Cologne airport for €9. Train should take 2.5 hours with a transfer at Cologne. If you miss the 1015am flix directly to Brussels, you can catch the 1050am to Liege (€6) and transfer there.
Train from Liege to Brussels is €17 and take around 60 to 80 minutes” Accomofation from €24 is also available and rooms are filling up today in the city with many of the expected 3,000 Wales followers still to arrive.

Light breakfasts this morning and more lubricants of any suggestion will be had as we approach kick off this evening. Whatever the result the thousands in Brussels will have enjoyed every minute of it.
