Luke Cundle won’t be signing for Swansea City
Friday, 24th Feb 2023 08:00 by Swansea Independent

Reports on social media and elsewhere regards Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Luke Cundle seem to believe there’s a possibility he could be a Swansea City target on a permanent deal this summer. As these stories have developed it’s time to put that one straight to bed.

First of all Cundle isn’t on a loan contract with any fee agreed to buy the player once the transfer window opens. The deal is a straight forward loan with a percentage agreed on fee and salary payment. The player returns at the end of the season to his club. To that end if the Swans did find themselves interested in a permanent deal they wouldn’t get a lot of change out of three million pounds for the player.

Speaking to one of our sources last evening on a number of matters the topic of Cundle cropped up. The response was at first astonishment that Swansea City would at any time during the majority ownerships tenure even think of parting with that sum of money, and secondly it’s clear the player has premier league aspirations and he won’t get that with the Swans any time soon.

It may well be a premier league club would come in for him, but Cundle has seen first team football at Wolves and has spent a lot of time at the club. He has come through the academy and has his sights set far higher than Swansea City. And that comes from a very solid source who really should know the current situation. Luke has progressed well this season, it has been demanding for him at times, but he has a talent and this has shone through at times during a testing championship season. We also know Wolves are delighted with his development and most certainly put that down to the Swansea City coaching team. Some won’t like that, but when the horse talks, and the mouth moves that’s good enough for us.

Premier league clubs really do micro monitor their assets as we reported when Ethan Laird signed from Manchester United last season. You can read the professional way clubs in the premier league monitor their players here –> Ethan Laird exclusive

Hopefully the rumours of Swans interest in signing Luke Cundle is now put to bed, as there is absolutely no way his parent club will allow it unless the money on the table is exceptional, and even then Luke Cundle wouldn’t want the move.
