The turn of the year has been alarming for Swansea City fans and despite selling out away at Luton Town today not many of the Jack Army will be brimming with confidence, if any. Nothing has been convincing at any level for the majority of the season, and many Swans fans will see only one result today.

And well over 1,000 Swansea fans will be at Kenilworth Road. It’s sold out.

Russell Martin is on a run he has rarely experienced in his football playing and managerial career. The exchange of pleasantries have begun, but it’s no time for handshaking this current Swansea side needs to find their minerals. Martin stated in his pre match. : “We just need a result to build confidence, to make it easier for the players and I think we are capable of getting one. Whenever we have had our backs to the wall during our time here, the players have come out fighting and we have to do it again. We respect Rob Edwards and Luton. He deserved a chance back in the Championship after what happened at Watford. I briefly played with Rob at Norwich, and he is a really good guy”

Well, and to be perfectly honest we don’t want Luton shown any respect, we don’t want to hear about Rob Edwards being a good guy and what he deserved. We want a totally committed and focussed Swansea side that is so angry and so determined that Luton won’t know what has hit them come throw o’ clock today. Players Like the returning Jamie Paterson and Michael Obafemi, now ant Burnley, are the type of people who take advantage of ‘nice guys’ as we have seen already over the last fourteen months.

Russell Martin has called for pride and clarity today, well let’s get angry as well, let’s disprove the doubters and get out on the pitch and play for Swansea. Respecting the opposition when stating “They know what they are, and have pride and clarity in what they do. We need to show the same pride and clarity in what we do, and I am sure we will.” That’s one thing, privately we hope Martin is saying very clearly. “ Go and rip them apart, they are nothing, and you are better” Luton are most certainly the Swans bogey team in recent years, let’s put a stop to that today, and get back our pride at the same time.
