It’s a bit like buying a house this player transfer window. Ellis Simms moves to Coventry and that collapses Joel Piroe’s potential swap move to Merseyside, and that is a good example. However, despite that being the case it seems Everton are still comfortable with the money it will cost to sign the Dutchman.

If rumours coming out of the Swansea.Com are true, or even close the Swans are happy to speak to any club with a low bid of twelve million pounds for Piroe, and the structure of the bid is important as well. Better to accept eleven million pounds than twelve if the cash up front is significantly higher. Makes sense of course. To have an extra two million earning you interest in your bank than it coming in over a year or two is obvious sense. And all that time you haven’t got the money, the club who bought your player is looking after it, not good business. Then they are earning interest on what they actually owe you ! Staggering but true. Keith wrote an incredibly well structured piece yesterday getting into the mindset and workings of football. Then the protection that has to be considered for crucial sources. Not least he mentioned the clever way football clubs and their affiliates, and that’s agents as well, and how they carefully manufacture situations. Let’s be honest without them nobody would be the wiser as to who the hell wants to sign Joel Piroe.

This morning it now seems that Everton are in a straight bidding war with Nottingham Forest. Both are Premier League clubs, but it’s Everton who would be Piroe’s choice for sure. The chances of them going down next season are smaller than that of Forest. Also in the running are Leeds United and Leicester City, within these shores at least. Piroe would most certainly find these clubs attractive as well. In fact Leeds and Leicester are big clubs, the former on par with Everton. The question that was posed yesterday is how do you know this information, by that I mean me and you. How do we know about all this ? These interested clubs aren’t just plucked out of the air. You know the detail because it’s written down by journalists who know you will read it. And it’s football clubs who talk to the right journalists to get the matter as wide a coverage as possible.

That’s how you know.

In fact if you have already read it then do so again, I did so three times last evening. It’s one of those articles that keeps on giving the more you read it. Going back to this morning the latest carefully guided transfer speculation states at least four ( there are others ) clubs, all in some form of straight shoot out for Piroe. That will also hook in other interested parties. The key though is whatever club wants him the most they had better get a move on. There may be some high jinx or even back and forth with those seriously interested clubs to get the best deal. But at the end of it all the club that pays quickest with the highest bid wins. And that’s the bidding war this site referenced yesterday.

That’s how it happens.

Where Joel goes really doesn’t matter to Swans fans, as much as it doesn’t mean a great deal to any other clubs followers either. Just get the best price and deal will be the mantra. If it’s down to dash then it looks like Leicester City are in the strongest financial position, Everton are so much in debt it’s frightening, and Leeds will fall in between these two clubs on a financial basis. However, at Forest we have one Evangelos Marinakis who is worth more than a lot of the better premier league clubs. His fortune runs in to the low billions, and he also owns Olympiacos FC, and as displayed last season he isn’t afraid to spend his money. His collateral away from football is huge, his wealth within it mind boggling. However, he didn’t get that much money by being frivolous, if there is a contender to Everton in the premier league this morning, then there is only Nottingham Forest. And the premier league is where Joel Piroe really wants to be.
