Swansea City pulled out all the stops by signing four players on deadline day. Two in on loan and two permanent with bids for other players either rejected or failing to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

The players in permanently are defender Josh Tymon for a fee of around £2,800,000 on a three year plus one year option deal and Kristian Pedersen on a two year deal for around £340,000. Tymon has been recruited from Stoke City, and Pedersen from FC Köln in Germany. Pedersen is also a defender.

Possibly the unlikeliest transfer of the day for the Swans was the late late show in securing defender Bashir Humphreys from Chelsea on a season long loan. The player is held in very high regard by the Blues and was borderline to stay at Stamford Bridge in the clubs premier league squad as late as Thursday morning. Early suggestions yesterday morning were that Stoke City had entered in to discussions for the twenty year old but Swansea held their nerve and secured Bashir around 3pm yesterday afternoon. Once a four year deal was signed by Bashir yesterday his club were happy to allow his departure. He joins Marc Guehi and Connor Gallagher, both successful loans from Chelsea in recent seasons which must have held some sway in negotiations.

Another surprise is the return of Jamal Lowe from AFC Bournemouth. He is in the last year of his Cherries contract and becomes a free agent next summer. Initially the deal was for a short term loan until January, however the Swans negotiated a season long loan which Jamal was more than happy to sign.

That’s four players in for the Swans in what was an exhausting day for all involved.

There have been some departures with Brandon Cooper signing on at Leyton Orient for the season. The real setback in amongst the good news is the confirmed departure of Iwan Morgan to Brentford. Iwan has to be one of the most promising strikers in the country, and for him to leave will be a considerable loss. He has made the brief but successful step up to the under 21 side this season registering goals and assists.

That aside Swansea City manager Michael Duff has to be pleased with his acquisitions this summer supported by Sporting Director Paul Watson and recruitment specialist Josh Marsh.
