Wales followers travel to Skopje : Returning to the bad old days ? Monday, 24th Mar 2025 18:18 by Swansea Independent staff Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad will face North Macedonia in Skopje tomorrow evening with a very stern warning to those who have tried and failed on recent trips to spoil the excitement of following the national side. With early rumours of more stupidity in an Irish bar in Skopje this afternoon (now confirmed) it’s now clear that some supporters are looking to draw new battle lines between Swansea City and Cardiff City. This afternoons incident seems to be a small one when a Cardiff and Swansea fan locked horns after a song about the ‘Ayatollah’ was put on a laptop. Witnesses believe a Cardiff fan ? did it to provoke a reaction and start a fight. The bar emptied, getting arrested or detained in North Macedonia shouldn’t be on anyone’s wish list. This is what we mean by imposing yourself on other peoples enjoyment. The mind boggles. Unconfirmed reports that the person involved in punching another fan today also assaulted a well known ex Swans players brother in Montenegro. This is where the police need to get a grip, start policing and do your jobs ! This guy if the info is correct shouldn’t be allowed to go around punching people because he feels like it. Taking down opposition flags, especially by a few Cardiff City fans will be met an appropriate response if they interfere with property or attempt to make the journey troublesome. We have a number of site members in Skopje who are currently enjoying the sights and the hospitality of the locals. One supporter from Newport group has told us, “If we even see an attempt to disrupt the trip or steal personal property it will be met with the appropriate response.” There’s a few confused youngsters which try and instigate club rivalries, our last trip to Iceland and Montenegro saw this silly rivalry creeping back into trips. We’ve made a pact, any nonsense and it won’t be tolerated, it will be nipped in the bud I can assure you” That goes for one party who regularly travel, a mixture of Swans and Cardiff fans, and Wrexham followers from north Wales who are also sick of these antics by a few idiots. “We pay good money to follow our country, these braindead jokers won’t spoilt it, the fans embassy need to recognise it as do the police who travel from the UK. They too need to come down on these children. Their targets seem to be people with young families. In Montenegro there were several incidents, but once you front them up you can see their eyes darting about like scared rabbits. This won’t be happening in Skopje and if the police can’t deal with it then we will. Enough is enough” ![]() Wales supporters in Pristina yesterday A Swansea City flag was stolen at the home game against Kazakhstan on Saturday, it’s obsessive behaviour with one idiot on social media blaming Swansea City for having so many ex and current Swans players in Bellamy’s squad. That’s the level of moron we are dealing with. Around two thousand fans are expected to be assembled for the game tomorrow. Why a few people (?) see this as a sport that has until now gone unchecked by the authorities is beyond comprehension. It was once said the Red Wall police itself. Well, knowing that then this seems to be exactly what’s required. The message is clear, don’t try and spoil the party with stupidity because it won’t be tolerated. And yours will be spoilt as well. What a pathetic state of affairs that it has to come to this. Deal with it South and North Wales police before it really does get out of hand. ![]() Photographs Swansea Independent Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
