Thursday, 9th Oct 2025 08:00 by Keith Haynes

Wales take on England at Wembley Stadium later on today in what is being called a ‘challenge match’ It is expected players will be utilised by Wales head coach, Craig Bellamy in this fixture who won’t be in the starting eleven for Monday evening. Then the real business kicks off in a World Cup Qualifier against Belgium. (7:45pm) Cardiff.

The English FA have released a statement regards their charity partners for this fixture. ‘Football fans have been nominated from across England and Wales to represent the many different faces of dementia in the UK, and will walk out alongside the teams to deliver the powerful message that it will take a united team to beat the UK's biggest killer.’ Twenty two football fans living with dementia will walk out with the teams at the start and in the second half there will be no players names on their shirts. The Alzheimer's Society Have partnered with the English FA since 2021.

For this game we understand there may be an opportunity for Ben Cabango, however, the latest from Bellamy is, "One or two boys are carrying niggles, it's normal. It's nothing different to any other camp” Ben Cabango had a slight knock during the game against Leicester City on the weekend, so it will be more about his fitness than whether he plays or not. So how you manage that, do one or two need more days, or are they good to go for tomorrow ? Bellamy continued, “If we feel they're good to go tomorrow, then we'll go that way”

On the exclusion of Jude Bellingham from the England squad for this international break manager, Thomas Tuchel stated, "I understand the focus on Jude, of course, he's a very special player. And for special players, there can always be special rules. But for this camp, we decided that we stick with our straightforward decision to invite the same team. I think there's an extra layer on top of it, the situation that he has not gathered full rhythm yet at Real Madrid. He is back in the team but hasn't finished one full match until now. He has only started one match."
