Leo Walta eventually got his terms sorted via his agent and IK Sirius in two days of talks in Swansea. We genuinely felt the deal would be permanent, well in a way it is but the Swans now have the buffer of time to analyse Walta until the end of this season.

Of course nobody knows the actual terms but what we can glean is it will be a four year deal pending completion of a loan which Swansea and IK Sirius agreed on Thursday evening.

A permanent deal it is and as Liam stated above but with a loan beforehand. There is no loan fee but overall with payments, (and some of the add ons may never be reached) the £3M we disclosed is spot on.

It has been hard getting this transfer window right but I think we did okay. Joel Ward we take credit for, we have no inside club help at all just some decent sources. In fact we can now publish a report we have been holding on to for a few days on some of the process behind the Walta deal. The man who assisted the initial interest by the Swans last year is journalist, Daniel Kristoffersson. Leo seemed very happy to talk about the Swans interest. The Swans were already underway with their plans.

And this has come from someone very much in the Finnish players camp.

Leo Walta to Swansea has been an open secret since the player revealed the Swans interest back in November. This deal has been months in the making with Gorringe and Worth making several trips back and forth to Sweden and Finland to secure the in demand midfielders signature. I saw them and they were extremely professional.

Journalist : We understand that Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Leo Walta were the primary targets going into this window, but once Stoke and Monaco tabled permanent deals, the Swans quickly ruled themselves out and focussed efforts elsewhere. It was the player him who disclosed to journalist Daniel Kristoffersson of the interest at the start of November. Leo Walta and his agent however have been courted for several months now and the Swansea vision was sold to them across several months of meetings. Plus, we hear there was nowhere else Leo wanted to go and wasn’t going to get distracted by attempts to lure him away.

Journalist : There has been extensive data and scouting work gone into his capture and we are told that yet again other clubs tried to piggy back off the work the club now does under the guidance of Worth and Gorringe by trying to hijack the deal late on. This is the same data and scouting system used to source the likes of Widell, Stamenic, Galbraith, Inoussa and now Walta. There is a lot of excitement about the power of the player sourcing methods within the club.I have seen it for myself and the work they do here.

Journalist : We know that interest from all over Europe started to emerge for the Finnish International after the Swans interest was revealed by Fabrizio Romano last week. But we were already on point. This showing that teams are indeed taking notice of Swansea’s methods, however Gorringe was able to conclude the deal with Sirius this weekend. Walta scored 16 goals from midfield for Sirius last season and is known as a set piece specialist, giving us real threat from direct free kicks and something not seen since Gylfi Sigurdsson graced the Swansea.com Stadium.

This is without doubt an eye catching transfer and a sign of things to come.
