Swansea City v West Ham United : The very latest on the game today Saturday, 17th Oct 2026 08:00 by Swansea Independent Swansea City face a tough test this afternoon at home to West Ham United. (3pm) The good news is that Jenson Seelt is fit as per our post match news report after the Millwall away victory on Tuesday evening. That’s promising. It was a game too soon for Stephen Eustáquio who was injured playing for Canada against the USA, as Swans head coach, Vitor Matos has confirmed he returned to training two days ago but you feel his recovery may need more time, of course anyone reporting team news from Swansea are purely guessing despite being certain on what information they put on social media. It is impossible for anyone to know a Matos team as that isn’t revealed to his staff until match day, and the players will then be told thereafter. That’s been the rule this season. So disregard such nonsense. ![]() Vitor does have an issue at right back, Filip Lissah is suspended after five yellow cards and Josh Key is a good few weeks away. His options are limited but as we reported last week before Lissah picked up that fifth yellow card one of the clear options is Stephen Welsh who has played there before. Ronald can cover there, but that’s what he would be, cover. Welsh is a tried and tested defender who has earned Scottish caps since joining Swansea in the summer. But of course Matos is keeping it all to himself until later this morning. He has two centre backs in Seelt and Ben Cabango at his disposal it is very obvious where Welsh should be playing. ⚽️ The current table after last nights Wolves away victory at Burnley below. ![]() ⚽️ Today’s fixtures ![]() We will as ever have team news later, have a great day and shout for the Swans ! ⚽️ Missed a news story ?
