Swansea City : Vitor displays frustration, the squad faces up to their emotions Thursday, 29th Oct 2026 19:01 by Liam Walters Swans head coach Vitor Matos talked through his frustrations from last week losing to Queens Park Rangers and challenged the fee that the Swans paid Motherwell for Elijah Just. It’s the build up to Blackburn Rovers on the Indy. Despite receiving treatment this week with Stephen Welsh and Josh Key getting attention Matos insisted his changes at half time at Loftus Road were tactical taking off both Welsh and Just. The return of Josh Key as we indicated yesterday means a squad place at least for him on Saturday. On that Matos stated “He also played as a winger last season with us and he was quite, he had quite an impact. So he's a player with, with a lot of qualities that we, that we like, of course. So yeah, important to have him back on the squad and he's of course one that we really like to have in terms of character” Signs of frustration came when the following passage of conversation occurred. A significant fee was presumed regards Elijah Just joining from Motherwell after the World Cup. Q: “Eli Just, he obviously came for a significant fee in the summer. He's had some good moments, hasn't he?” Matos :”But what is a significant fee? Sorry? What is the significant fee? Q “Well, it was undisclosed officially of course. But I think it was quite significant. You can tell us “ Matos : “You are the one who said it's quite significant. So it was not me” That little insight there maybe showing signs of frustration with mention of the transfer fee ? Especially when it is never a full fee paid and the overall fee is potentially never going to be reached. A basic down payment followed by an agreed payment plan is the best way to explain it as we have so many times before. Just’s contract length you would imagine will never be completed. There is though good news as Matos reported a togetherness this week after some conversations with the squad. “It was, of course, quite a demanding week, as we all expected. But we had honest conversations between us. And I think what pleased me most was the reaction on the training pitch—the intensity, togetherness and ambition. That was good to see. Of course, what we want now is to react on Saturday.” The emotions that the team on the pitch felt during the first half last weekend was referred to by Matos. “We couldn’t find it. Of course, the result dictated a little of that emotional stability, if you like. That is something we need to avoid. We need to learn how to stay in control of that, and that’s what we analysed. A few more things as well, but I’ll keep those between us.” This week would have been the first real challenging moments Maros has had to deal with regards characters shocking performance and reaction. Matos has managed many moments since he joined late last year. The emotional QPR reaction overall compared to his remarkable restructure of the way the Swans play - and his record overall speaks for itself. ![]() More on the game as we rapidly approach the weekend on the Indy. ⚽️ Catch up with everything on the Swans on our front pages. ![]() ![]() ![]() Photographs : As per disclaimer Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
