Town and Crystal Palace have agreed a £225,000 fee for midfielder Owen Garvan. Former Blues boss George Burley is a long-time admirer of the former Irish U21 international skipper, who was amongst the eight players made available by Town earlier in the summer.

The 22-year-old has already been at Selhurst Park for talks regarding personal terms and a two-year deal has been agreed, but the Blues academy product is still considering whether to leave the club he joined as a 16-year-old.

Meanwhile, Alex Bruce could still move to Sheffield United later this week, despite the switch stalling yesterday. Reports in South Yorkshire claimed the deal was off, but the switch is still likely to go through, probably later in the week.

The clubs are yet to agree the terms on which the central defender will move to Bramall Lane, but it is likely that an agreement will be reached. Bruce is understood to have already held talks regarding his contract with the Blades.
