![]() Friday, 6th Aug 2010 19:27 County's last match of the 2009/10 season saw us lose 3-0 to Tranmere Rovers, a game that proved to be manager Gary Ablett's last game in charge of the Hatters. Since that match the Hatters have appointed a new manager and have also found new owners after the 2015 Consortium completed their takeover of the club. With so many changes being made both on and off the pitch over the past few months due to the new owners and managerial appointment, we take a look back at who donned the famous blue shirts during our final League game of the 2009/10 season against Tranmere and where they are now…… Lloyd Rigby: Lloyd seems to be set for a future away from Edgeley Park as he has only featured in one pre-season friendly (a reserve team match at Woodley Sports) and has even been on trial at Barrow. The 21-year-old ended the season as number one but the fact that he hasn't even been given a squad number by new manager Paul Simpson suggests he's not in his plans for the future. Matt Sadler: Joined League Two side Shrewsbury Town on a six-month loan spell in the summer from parent club Watford. Matt didn't really show why Watford shelled out £750,000 to Birmingham City for his services during his time at Edgeley Park last year so it will be interesting to see how he does with the Shrews this time around. Paul Huntington: Recently joined League One side Yeovil Town following a successful trial spell at Huish Park. The former Leeds United and Newcastle United player has signed a two-year deal following his release from County at the end of last season. Danny Swailes: Danny has recently signed a new one year deal at Edgeley Park which will see him stay with the club until the end of the 2010/11 season. Was named as club captain for the forthcoming season by new manager Paul Simpson following the departure of Johnny Mullins to Rotherham United and will no doubt be a key part of the Hatters defence this season. Andy Halls: The young defender is still contracted to the Hatters and has featured in the majority of County's pre-season matches. The arrival of Mark Lynch from Rotherham United will mean that first team opportunities will be limited for the 18-year-old in the 2010/11 season. Adam Griffin: The left sided player is still at Edgeley Park and has signed a new one year deal which will keep him at the club until next summer. Had been playing at left back in some of the recent friendlies although manager Paul Simpson had stated that he knew that 'Griff' wanted to play further forward. The recent arrival of Robbie Williams will mean that his services will no longer be required in defence so he will be battling it out with Danny Rowe and Danny Pilkington for a place on the wing. Paul Turnbull: The young midfielder has also featured heavily in the Hatters pre-season programme and will no doubt be a big part of Paul Simpson's plans this season. Will be in contention for a place in central midfield along with James Vincent, Greg Tansey and Matty Mainwaring. David Perkins: The blonde midfielder returned to parent club Colchester United at the end of his six month loan spell at Edgeley Park and has been involved in the U's pre-season programme. Last season he wasn't given a look in by manager Aidy Boothroyd although a change of manager appears to have changed Perkins fortunes. The diminutive blonde haired player has been included in John Ward's squad which will take on Exeter City in their first match of the new season. James Vincent: James is another one of the Hatters youngsters still contracted to the club until the end of the 2010/11 season at least, and he has been involved in Paul Simpson's pre-season plans. James has been playing on the right wing and in central midfield in the friendly matches so it will be interesting to see where he features next season. Has certainly played better when playing in a central position rather than out on the wing. Danny Pilkington: Danny is still on the books of the Hatters and will be looking to make a big impression this season after getting a run of games in the first team last season under former manager Gary Ablett. Danny didn't feature in Saturday's final warm up game at Glossop North End which suggests that he may not make the starting line up when we take on Southend United in the opening match of the new season. Jabo Ibehre: The former Walsall and Leyton Orient forward has returned to parent club MK Dons following the end of his six-month loan spell at Edgeley Park last season, and he is currently fighting it out for a place in the Dons starting line up. Jabo has been featuring in the Dons pre-season friendly matches after being told he had a future at Stadium: MK by new manager Karl Robinson. A virus may keep him out of a return to old club Walsall in the Dons opening match of the 2010/11 season. Jemal Johnson (2nd half substitute): Jemal returned to parent club MK Dons following his (unsuccessful) loan spell with the club last season and he is now being given the opportunity to join MLS side DC United. Johnson has travelled to Washington for a trial period with a view to transferring his registration to the MLS side.
