The tale of the tape as Swansea take a Lancashire hot pot of a beating
Saturday, 15th Oct 2022 21:50 by Statto

It doesn’t really help matters when you review the stats from the game, a fixture which really did expose Swansea City throughout their starting eleven, and beyond. At the conclusion of the game Burnley went top of the table and the swans dropped to eighth.

We could say fine margins but it really wasn’t about that at turf moor this weekend. The only margin is the fact it could and should have been far more than four goals that sunk the swans. Despite the positivity of recent weeks the result really does open up the debate on adding to this Swansea squad come January.

Swansea as ever had some decent possession but this time around it wasn’t as energetic as we saw at West Bromwich Albion or Watford. It was very reminiscent of the second half last week against Sunderland, a game that could have gone either way. Surely that second half wasn’t the catalyst for this weekends game ? Russell Martin spoke of complacency and over confidence, it’s a shame he didn’t mention incompetence as well. Harsh words ? Too right.

The expected finishes to the season based on results up to today are as follows. Our friends at Be Soccer actually had the swans as slight favourites to win today based upon the stats over the last six matches. Funny old game as they say.

We move on to Tuesday night and Reading at the swansea.com stadium.
