Swansea City : Sheehan chooses his target carefully Sunday, 28th Sep 2025 17:22 by Liam Walters & Keith Haynes Swans head coach, Alan Sheehan hit out at match official, Dean Whitestone after yesterday’s 1-1 draw at home to Millwall. Citing a run of bad luck with refereeing decisions he clearly was angry at the way the game went. On the game Sheehan commented, “ The first twenty five minutes we were excellent. We came out on the front foot, we created numerous opportunities and we got the goal. We needed to continue that to try and get the second, which we did do, and then the last 10 minutes of the first half we did not deal well enough with direct play. They got a bit of forward momentum and territory, which was exactly what we said it would be like, and then we give away a set-piece on the stroke of half-time and we concede. It's very, very disappointing. We need to smell blood and be clinical in both boxes. These are the fine margins, at the moment these draws feel like losses, and we have to find a way to get on the right side of those margins." That’s a fact but once again we saw the Swans concede in injury time at the end of a half making that four games in a row. That’s an equally big an issue than not getting refereeing decisions that he clearly cares about. On the foul on Vipotnik he said, "It's a stonewall penalty. I think it is very, very clear and you have to get those decisions right. It's a penalty and these are the margins between winning or drawing games." We thought Marko Stamenic was more of a shout when he was pushed in the back in the area in front of the linesman and referee. We covered the post match report and that can be read below. ⚽️ Watch the game highlights below ⚽️ Watch Sheehan post match Swansea City need to apply a higher tempo to their game than we have seen this season, we have seen some examples but it seems the players cannot maintain their effort. This is leading to lapses in concentration in defence (hence injury time goals) but also is leading to that frustrating build up which we saw for most of the second half against Birmingham City and again yesterday. With three games at home drawn that’s the real annoying thing about the Swans start to the season. Those games were all winnable had it not been for the lack of injury time concentration against Hull City and Millwall. The Swans being ahead in all of them. We turn now to BlackBurn Rovers away on Tuesday night (7:45pm) ![]() Photograph Swansea Independent & Reuters already cited.
