Non-League Day 2018 this Saturday (13 October)
at 10:52 11 Oct 2018

Greetings all - with QPR having this weekend off, is anyone going to a non-league game instead?

There are all kinds of offers and events being targeted at R's fans to try and get them to come along.

It looks highly likely that I and a few other QPR fans will be going to Wealdstone v Hampton & Richmond Borough where there are discounts for R's season-ticket holders, family tickets and possibly doughnuts (Wenzel's bakery are holding some activities) so it could be a fun afternoon.

I've written a guide to everything that I know of in London and the South East which you can find at: http://www.tlfg.uk/2018/10/tlfg-8-14-october-2018_8.html

I've also put together a match finder for the rest of the country: http://nonleagueday.co.uk/map.html

Give non-league football a go, you might really enjoy it!

Parking changes near the ground
at 10:41 12 Dec 2016

Not the most thrilling topic I know but if you're someone who drives to games please be aware that as of last Thursday a whole load of streets in the Bush now require you to pay and display 9am-9pm Monday to Sunday.

As a local resident, I've fought hard to stop this but a change of council has finally seen these draconian hours brought in.

Ironically we were told that one of the main reasons for doing it was because of QPR fans clogging up the streets with their cars and yet Loftus Road, Ellerslie Road, Bloemfontein Road and Bloemfontein Avenue which all border the stadium will remain free to park in.

Here's the map - avoid Zone JJ in green:

Non-League Day 2016 this Saturday (3 September)
at 16:24 31 Aug 2016

Hello all. As some of you may know, I organise this event which tries to encourage football fans to watch a non-league game during an international break.

The boost in attendance leads to a significant injection of funds into the semi-pro and amateur game each year, making a big difference to the largely volunteer-run community clubs who take part.

This Saturday there are some cracking games taking place in and around London with many offering discounts to Rangers fans and others. Here's a quick run down of what's on:

St Albans City v Hampton & Richmond Borough - Les Ferdinand is the guest of honour at this big game at the top of the National League South. QPR season-ticket holders get in for half price (£6) while all U16s get in for free.

Wealdstone v Poole Town - £5 adults, U16s free, prices apply to all who turn up.

You'll also get in for a fiver with your season ticket at Tooting & Mitcham United v Horsham.

Hanwell Town, Harrow Borough, Hendon, Slough Town, Staines Town and Uxbridge all have important FA Cup ties which cost between £8-12 to get in to. Hayes & Yeading are also playing in the cup but are away to Sun Sports who are based in Watford.

I've built a match finder so you can locate your nearest game wherever you're based in the country - just put in your postcode and see what comes up: http://nonleagueday.co.uk/map.html

I hope you can make it to a game, every pound you spend will make a real difference and you might even enjoy yourself!

PS - we're also raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK and have a special fanfunding website up and running. Rather than just give us money, there are rewards and prizes which you get in return - for example, a signed Les Ferdinand t-shirt could be yours for £35. Take a look, there's even accommodation and tickets to see Barcelona at the Nou Camp: https://www.tifosy.com/NLD16

Non-League Finals Day
at 12:52 20 May 2016

Afternoon all. Just a quick post to see if anyone knows about or might interested in going to this at Wembley on Sunday.

Aside from QPR, my big passion is non-league football and trying to promote it through the annual Non-League Day event which Ian Taylor and co at Rangers very graciously help me publicise in the autumn.

On Sunday, in a new event, the finals of the FA Vase and FA Trophy will be played back-to-back in a bonanza of football at the national stadium. Tickets are available on the day and are only £25 adults, £10 concessions and £1 U16s.

Hereford play Morpeth Town in the Vase at 1215pm and it's Grimsby v Halifax in the Trophy at 415pm. Effectively it's a whole day out and seems pretty good value to me. Almost 50,000 tickets have been sold in advance so far so it should be pretty lively. The FA are also putting on several displays and a bit of entertainment on the concourses to keep people busy between matches.

If you or your kids have never been to Wembley, this is a good opportunity and it won't break the bank. If nothing else, it's surely better than sitting around at home waiting for the Euros to start.

QPR Runners at Fulham this morning
at 13:32 14 Feb 2016

Just a quick mention for the QPR fans who risked total humiliation by taking part in the Craven Cottage 10km this morning. The annual race put on by Fulham had a QPR representative team running in it and one of them came fourth despite being heckled by Fulham 'legend' Sean Davis while running.

If you're a QPR fan who likes to run and would be interested in taking part in events like this or just wants to connect with like-minded people, join our group on Facebook or Twitter. We're also recognised by parkrun as a club so you can choose us for your profile.

Non-League Day 2015
at 17:08 6 Oct 2015

It's that time of year again when I urge you all to head out and watch a bit non-league football during this weekend's international break.

I set this up after going to watch our pre-season game down at Tavistock back in 2010 and it's still going.

There are some decent games taking place in West London with AFC Hayes, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Hanwell Town, Kingstonian, North Greenford United and Uxbridge all hosting games, a couple being in the FA Cup.

Hampton are running all kinds of deals and events for their match against Hendon so a trip to The Beveree could be a particularly good option.

Wherever you live, there should be something going on. Pop your postcode into our match finder and see what comes up:

Thanks for your time and hope you can make it to a game.

Record attempt in W12 on Saturday
at 21:40 13 May 2015

If you're around the Bush on Saturday morning, QPR Runners are encouraging fans of QPR and Newcastle to have a go at the 5km Wormwood Scrubs parkrun at 9am.

It's a great little weekly community event, is open to all whatever your ability and is free to enter. There are also refreshments in the Thames Valley Harriers clubhouse afterwards.

The record amount of participants is only 91 so if a few of us turn up we could beat it.

As I said it is free but you're encouraged to pre-register so you can get a result and they have an idea how many to expect.

A few of us are going so hope to see you there and wear your colours, I'm sure the Toon fans will.

QPR Runners
at 12:58 26 Apr 2015

With it being London Marathon weekend and with several fans taking part I thought I'd set up a QPR Runners group for anyone on here who enjoys the odd sprint/jog/plod.

Apart from sharing stories and pics of our running exploits, I'm also hoping to get a few fans from both sides to take part in the Wormwood Scrubs 5km parkrun ahead of our Saturday home games.

With this is mind I've approached Newcastle's London supporters club who have been very open to the idea so will hopefully field a few people on 16 May.

If you want to get involved in this specific event or just want to join the group then we can be found on social media.

Hi there,
Just a quick note to say thanks to all those who went to a non-league game on Saturday as part of Non-League Day.

I heard reports of quite a few QPR fans at games all over the place. The event was a success with crowds up all over the country. Personally I went to Dulwich Hamlet v Hampton & Richmond in the Ryman League. They attracted a stunning crowd of nearly 3,000 which smashed their attendance record, not bad when you consider they usually get 600-700.

Hope you enjoyed your day and with QPR not in action again this Saturday, why not give non-league football another go?

My personal West London recommendation is the AFC Hayes v Harrow Borough derby in the FA Cup.

Thanks again

Non-League Day 2014
at 20:15 4 Sep 2014

Hi there. It's time for my annual thread about Non-League Day. If you don't know, I'm a QPR supporter and I founded this event back in 2010 to try and promote semi-professional and amateur football. It takes place on international weekends so as not to clash with Premier League and Championship fixtures.

Loads of clubs in the London area are offering special deals to QPR fans to try and entice them along - some are even offering FREE ENTRY. In the general west London area some of the clubs taking part include Hanwell Town, Harrow Borough, Kingstonian, Northwood and Staines Town.

All the details can be found in a blog I've written covering the whole of London:

http://thelondonfootballguide.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/tlfg-1-7-september-2014.htm

Or if you want to find the match nearest to you elsewhere in the country then use the match finder on the Non-League Day website:

http://www.nonleagueday.co.uk/map.html

Personally I'll be heading south to Dulwich Hamlet v Hampton & Richmond Borough. It's 'Pay What You Like' for everyone and they're hoping to set a record crowd. Maybe see you there.

Thanks for your time

Rule changes
at 14:28 11 Jun 2014

Back in 1995 (scary) I traveled up to Ewood Park to watch our season opener against then champions Blackburn. We lost 1-0 but should have had at least a draw after Trevor Sinclair got clean through late on, rounded the onrushing Bobby Mimms but got brought down outside the box.

Mimms was of course sent off but we only got a free-kick which we did nothing with.

I've never quite recovered from the injustice of that day and pose the question - should all professional fouls result in a penalty?

To take it further, should all red cards result in a penalty as, more often than not, the extra man can make very little difference especially if the foul (maybe causing serious injury) is late in the game.

It could have righted a wrong that day but could also have made quite a big difference to this season's play-off final.

Non-League Day 2013
at 19:28 3 Sep 2013

Evening all,
Not sure if this has been mentioned on here yet but this year's event, which I run, is almost upon us.

This Saturday, when we're without a game, there are lots of non-league games taking place instead. Many of our local sides are offering discounted or even FREE ENTRY to QPR supporters as a result.

Ashford Town (Middx), Bedfont & Feltham, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Harrow Borough, Kingstonian, Northwood and Uxbridge are all running various schemes to get you in.

Details on all can be found here: http://thelondonfootballguide.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/tlfg-2-8-september-2013.htm

If none of these clubs are anywhere near you, use the match finder on the Non-League Day website to find your local team: http://nonleagueday.co.uk/map.html

It's got to be Harrow Borough v Dulwich Hamlet for me.

Thanks for your time.

QPR matchday parking - plans to restrict
at 19:15 29 May 2013

This is possibly the dullest subject ever posted on here but it could be important to a few of you.

At the moment there is a consultation in progress regarding parking restrictions for Zone J - the part of Shepherds Bush immediately around the ground and roads on either side of Uxbridge Road where many supporters park.

There are moves afoot by some residents to make parking in these areas next to impossible on a matchday or at least costly (it's free at the moment).

If you live in this area or know anyone who does, you/they might want to take part:

Non League Day 2012 - free entry for QPR fans
at 15:47 11 Oct 2012

Afternoon all,
Not sure if you're aware but this event is taking place again this Saturday.

I'm a QPR season-ticket holder and set this up a couple of years ago to support grassroots football after being inspired by our pre-season trip to Tavistock.

With QPR having this weekend off, some of our local non-league clubs are offering free and discounted entry to their matches.

If you've got a QPR season ticket and are at a loose end, you'll get in for free at Ashford Town (Middlesex), Northwood and Uxbridge. A little further afield it's also free at Carshalton Athletic and Hemel Hempstead Town (deal only applies there if you contact them in advance).

You'll also get in for just £5 at Hampton & Richmond Borough, Hendon and Wealdstone.

If you're not a season-ticket holder but under 16, you'll get in for free for most of the above (see their websites).

If you live further away, more details about what's on and where can be found on our website:

Free entry and Easter egg for kids at Wealdstone today
at 11:53 7 Apr 2012

Wealdstone are offering half-price admission (£5) to adult QPR season-ticket holders today for their match against Kingstonian (k.o. 3pm). To sweeten the deal, it's also free for all accompanied U16s and all 'juniors' get a free Easter egg too:

http://wealdstone-fc.com/2012/posts/accompanied-children-go-free-on-saturday/

Sounds like a pretty decent way to spend the afternoon if you're based in the Ruislip area.

There are also half-price entry deals for QPR season-ticket holders at Hayes & Yeading United v Cambridge United (£6 - being played at Woking FC) and Hendon v Margate (£5 - being played at Wembley FC).

Discounts for QPR fans at local non-league clubs
at 15:33 19 Mar 2012

Just thought I'd point out, if you weren't already aware, that QPR season-ticket holders get in for half price (usually £5) at many non-league clubs in London.

Harrow Borough, Hayes & Yeading United, Hendon, Tooting & Mitcham United, Wealdstone and Wingate & Finchley all offer these deals for their league matches and all could do with a bit of extra support.

The next time there's a QPR-free Saturday, give one of them a try or if you're really keen get down to Wealdstone who are playing tonight.
