Yes exactly. Spell the word correctly and if the swear filter lets it through then it's fine. So basically don't use any form of the F or C words, and that includes accented characters, but the other words are "okay" provided you're not being offensive (see our terms about treating others with respect).

Perhaps take a leaf out of Blackadder's book of insults...

I have discussed this in another thread, but to give it a broader response, we created this network after the collapse of the Rivals network. I had worked with a number of other sites and they came along and joined us, as did Phil some time later. I'm an Ipswich fan. We have big plans for the network which obviously include a mobile version of the site, catering for more clubs, and then more sports and interests.

You are correct that I'm not a litigation lawyer but we have been running busy football forums for 25 years. In that time we have had solicitors writing to us, and several police forces wanting stuff removed or wanting the particulars of individuals making posts.

So if you want to know what can't be said, basically don't accuse someone of breaking the law unless that person has been convicted of that crime, which I believe was the case on the posts removed although I genuinely don't remember the specifics. On top of that we have our T&Cs which we like to run our sites with: https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/page/terms-and-conditions

One thing I've had to pull up a few people with is swearing. We don't approve. However since we've taken back control over this site it's been pretty good and long may that continue.

Just because Phil is no longer running this site doesn't mean that people can make accusations about him that are of a litigious nature. This site will be moderated and we're more than happy to issue bans if we deem it necessary. However, I have no record of what's been said in the past so you have a clean slate to a degree, but please keep to our terms and conditions and don't post stuff that can get you and us into trouble.

I had a discussion with Phil about whether he and his mods should remain on this site. I didn't think they should but Phil wanted to remain so I mutually agreed to let them with some conditions. Darran immediately broke those conditions so I banned him. Phil's notice about the new site will stay here for 7 days so there's no need to add additional posts, pinned or otherwise.

Just a brief message from us at FansNetwork to wish Phil all the best with his new site. This site will remain open of course, as it's possible to post on all 92 team pages, and we will be moderating it. However we're not expecting it to be busy here, but it would be nice if a few of you stayed behind or post on both.

There's so much material on here it would be a shame to remove it. I know there's much love for Lord_Bony but I'll remove his message from the top of the site in a short while as Phil has also set up the Lord Bony forum on his new site. We'll also be removing the Planet Swans branding too of course.

Phil mentioned that Planet Swans has been here since 2014 but we've known each other way back in Rivals days since 2000. Commerically it is a blow to lose him, but I understand his reasons and ambitions, and we are ambitious for the future too. So all the best Phil, and to Swansea too against Bristol City and Reading, from an Ipswich fan.

Indeed. The Opera VPN and its various IP addresses are well known and many sites will block those that use it. I too use ExpressVPN when needed but isn't free.

Blackpool v Charlton Athletic - Predictions
at 12:25 7 Dec 2018

What are your predictions for the match against Charlton?

Predict the score and first BFC scorer (if any) and get points depending on your accuracy. 1 point if you get BFC win/draw/loss correctly, 2 points if you get the scorer right, and 3 points if you get the score spot on, plus a bonus of the number of goals scored in the match.

It's just a bit of fun, but log your predictions on the following link:

As it happens, FansNetwork does have developers and we're rewriting the site from top to bottom. Unlike other sites, we're not just a forum but have news stories, Reuters images, chatroom, prediction league, blogs, fixtures, results, player ratings, team selectors, league tables and many new things in the pipeline. First and foremost is a responsive site and I accept we're behind on that score. We're deep in the redevelopment of this site otherwise we'd have recruited a new editor.

As it happens, one of our developers lives in Thornton, if that makes a difference to anyone.

Currently we are moderating the site centrally.

Please report anything you feel is being abusive. We'll get an email and PM and will take a look at each case. If the post breaches our T&Cs then we'll remove it.

Pop-up ads on this site

Hi all.

These ads will be removed shortly. The idea was sound... remove all other advertising on mobiles and tablets and just have this one, so in the end it should have been better for you but it seems not.

Ugly inside - Privacy notice
at 13:47 27 Nov 2018

That's a perfectly valid post. We've done what we needed to do to be covered by law, but there's still more we can do to make it easier to opt out, and we're working on that. Perhaps the next time you encounter this message there'll be a new one.

So, how does it work? Well, when you visit a site there will be a cookie which says "ok, I like this site. It's a football site". From your IP address they will be able get a rough location about where you are (varies dramatically depending on your ISP). Then when you visit other sites, they will know that you've visited Amazon, or ebay, and looked at specific items. Then you'll go to a newspaper site, or a games site, all the time, the advertisers will build up a profile of your age, and what you like. Then when you come back here, the advertiser will know all that, and show ads that are relevant to you. These are obviously more valuable and we benefit from that. Otherwise, advertisers will just have a "best guess", based on the site.

If this bothers you, then over and above what we do here, you can turn this off by going here: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices more information is given at the bottom of the page "privacy" and more specifically "cookies".

Personally, I like the personalised ads. Sometimes they are useful but I accept others will definately not like them. Visit the link above.

There's a lot of misinformation about this thread though. I can guarantee that our advertisers will not get your email addresses. What can happen though, is that our site could be hacked but that's completely different. The only information we have of you is your email address and your password. You'd be very wise to make sure that you have a different password for every site you visit, and let the browser remember it. Should you ever change browser, then just use the "forgot password" reminder and start again. It's the only way to look after yourself. Every site is hackable, you just have to look at the list you've given there, but don't get that confused with that privacy popup. Two very different things.

Feel free to DM me or email support@fansnetwork.co.uk if you have any questions or concerns.
