| Forum Thread | Cargiant appoints developer for Old Oak Common plan at 13:40 1 Dec 2014
From Property Week: Cargiant has appointed London & Regional as development partner for the redevelopment of Old Oak Park in west London. The car dealership plans to build a £5bn new town on the 45-acre Old Oak Common, where it currently houses used cars. Its plans include around 9,500 homes and a new high street, plus two schools, a new dock and a “cultural hub”. The development is currently contested by Queen’s Park Rangers football club, which claims the site would be better used for a new stadium for a 40,000-seat stadium and 24,000 new homes. A statement from Cargiant today said London & Regional has the funding in place to take the plans forward to a construction stage within two years — 12 months earlier than planned. DP9 has been appointed to work with London & Regional on planning. Last month, QPR said 89% of almost 3,000 people who responded to a consultation said they agreed with QPR’s alternative plans for the site, while 11% said they disagreed. Tony Mendes, managing director of Cargiant, said: “London is in desperate need of more houses and the mayor and the GLA are working hard to resolve the shortage. By appointing London & Regional at this early stage we will be accelerating the process of delivering our scheme and thousands of affordable houses for Londoners by at least 12 months. “Old Oak Park is destined to become one of the largest car-free and safest developments in London, with the needs of the local community at its heart. This development will encompass a large proportion of affordable homes for the local community with waterside living and access to the 170 acre Wormwood Scrubs Park, which is four times the size of Green Park.” |
| Forum Thread | FIFA/FA ARE A JOKE. 6th minute global protest at 22:57 13 Nov 2014
This week has seen some outrageous behaviour from both Fifa and the FA. On a micro level, we have been dealt with appallingly by the FA. This week and for a number of years. I'm sure other clubs feel the same. On a macro scale, football is big business and today's events prove the governing body are incompetent. Wouldn't it be great if the world of football, every stadium, every land, turned their back on the game, in silence, for a minute to show how we, as football fans, feel? How else do we have a voice? Would need to be organised but the press would be all over it. Edit: 6th minute for F being 6th letter in alphabet. [Post edited 13 Nov 2014 22:59]

| Forum Thread | Prague Rendition of Ooooh Bobby Zamooora at 13:54 7 Jun 2014
So, we are in Goldfingers lap dancing bar in Prague. The stag is on stage but suddenly there is a power cut and the music goes off. The show must go on as they say. Someone starts the song, and before you know it the whole place is singing the Bobby song. Turns out there were a few hammers, Brighton and Fulham fans in there who all got caught up in the moment. |

I know it's a mugs game, but very surprised at the odds being given on a 2 horse race. Sky Bet have us at 11/5 and Derby 13/10. Clearly the underdogs for this final. |
| Forum Thread | Orange Cards / Sin Bin at 22:38 20 Jan 2014
I've always thought this was a good idea. Two yellows is an orange and a sin bin for say 10 mins. A 3rd is a red. Some offences such as denying a goal scoring opportunity or serious foul play would be an orange rather than red. A straight red would only be for striking an opponent, spitting etc. Also only the captain being able to talk to the ref would stop a lot of moaning. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25811977 Thoughts? |

| Forum Thread | White City - M&S Warehouse sold to St James, part of Berkeley Group at 14:03 1 Jul 2013
Doesn't sound like a new ground here - article below: St James, part of the Berkeley Group, has acquired a 10 acre site in White City, London, from Marks & Spencer for around £100m. The £100m for the existing M&S storage warehouse site will be paid over a period of three years. St James plans to redevelop the site and adjacent parklands into more than 4,500 homes. The site forms the heart of a much larger regeneration programme led by major institutions including Westfield, Stanhope and Imperial College London. M&S has agreed a three year leaseback on the property, allowing it time to relocate to more modern premises. Tony Pidgley, chairman of the Berkeley Group, said: “St James will use all its expertise in place-making to create a fantastic new location, with a public park, improved connections and homes for thousands of people.” Peter Burns, executive director of CBRE’s central London development team, added: “This deal allows M&S time to undertake a relocation, whilst releasing a significant piece of the jigsaw of one of London’s most exciting regeneration areas. The development sits within a larger regeneration zone, and the residential element will attract considerable interest due to its central London location and phenomenal educational, retail and leisure attractions.” Sir Edward Lister, deputy Mayor for planning, added: “This is an extremely positive step forward in the regeneration of White City which is set to deliver thousands of new homes. We have ambitious plans for this area’s wider development, seeking to build on its heritage, attract further investment and create jobs. I welcome St James’s Group’s contribution to this exciting vision.” |

Perhaps naively, I thought DJ was his real name until I saw the odds on first goalscorer. Must be a song about Dudley? |
