Old Oak Common Update

It's good. See this link which was posted a few weeks ago. Starts around the 39th minute mark. Very interesting and seems like with so much space available at the site we will eventually end up moving there:

Referee Bias
at 11:55 26 Dec 2014

Having just watched MOTD from last week & seeing Lee Mason's red card for Agbonlahor got me thinking about referees and their biases. Although I've never been a ref I presume most get into the game because they love it. With that logic I'm also making the assumption that as is the case with 99% of people who like football they also support a team.

With that in mind I was wondering do they have to tell the referees association where their loyalties lie or do they simply lie and say, "oh, I don't really follow anyone."

I remeber when Lee Mason (from Bolton, Greater Manchester) was the ref at Old Trafford for United Rangers and he managed to send off Derry and give away a pen at 0-0 when Ashley Young went flying from a brush of the mighty Derry hand. Now having spent plenty of time in Manchester (one of the pitfalls of working in TV/Film these days) I know that if you're from Bolton you either support Bolton or United, City is the team that's hated. Well, when I say I know I mean that's what I've gleamed from the fact that every store sells United shirts and absolutely no City ones. Anyway I digress a tad. Although I don't know Lee Mason personally I'd hazard a guess that either he's a big United fan, Ashley Young's protector or a horrendous ref. Either way I've concluded I never want to see him ref a QPR United game.

Merry Crimbo everyone

Bosh Times
at 12:12 19 Dec 2014

Mr Bosh, I think I asked this question a couple of years ago and as I'm senile I can't remember how you replied. The question being what has happened to the Bosh Times, they were the most informative and insightful features that ever appeared on this forum. Anyway, I have asked Santa to bring them back and as I've been a very good boy this year I expect him to deliver.

Thank you please!

That would've probably been Steve Knight the writer/creator. Big Birmigham City fan, had the pleasure of seeing him nad taking the piss the day after a Ravel inspired QPR beat them 2-0 at St. Andrews, I miss the Championship when we actually used to win away from home!

For someone like me who works as an Assistant Director the haircuts are a nightmare as they have to get them redone every 4 days, normally it meant an even earlier start, and the same with the extras.

Although the Shelbys are still in 'Birmingham' you're right they do try to expand their business so they do have a jolly boys outing to London. However, having said that we filmed mostly in Liverpool and Manchester with 2 days in Dudley and not a single day of shooting in London.

As the gang moves to London they get involved with the Jewish gangs of Camden (their leader played by Tom Hardy) and the Italians, led by Sabini (played by Noah Taylor.)

Think viewers will like it, still has good story lines with added interesting characters as well as plenty of action, hope people enjoy it.

My dad Garry Smith Smiffy

As I struggled to get up to Hillsborough back in 2003 Smiffy kindly offered me and a pal a lift even though we had never met before, it was extremely kind and I'll remember him fondly. Sorry for your loss.

This chap is normally spot on with his tips, doesn't go for heavy favourites so odds are usually decent:
