The Ogden Family

Suspect there are a lot of ex Balderstone boys from that era, who have always and still support the Dale, and would rather have played Soccer than Rugby on a Wednesday afternoon.

Longest-range goals

Jason Kennedy scored a cracker at the Sandy End, when ,unfortuneately he was playing for Darlington, in the season before he joined us.

Tony Collins has died.
at 16:24 9 Feb 2021

Watched him as a youngster, running unmarked into the dip at the Sandy lane end, waving both arms for the ball, and then delivering a fine left wing cross from which we scored.
Always seemed to be a very well respected manager and scout. Bumped into him a number of years later having Sunday lunch with "FSR"( Guess where?). Talked football with our party for much longer than necessary. Great respect for what he achieved for Rochdale in the 60's and the wider football family throughout his life.

Rest in Peace ,Tony, Condolences to your family.

DAVE BYWATER
at 19:35 22 Oct 2017

Dave's father Les was a Dale goalkeeper in the 40's. later a policeman who organised the traffic around Spotland on a Saturday in the 50's, and later set up the family coach company.
Knew the family well when they lived in the police houses on Meadway. Dave was a fair keeper himself, played with Leeds and Halifax reserves, I think.

Condolences to the family . RIP

Is Keith planning to play him at left back?

Definitely Laurie Calloway. Possessed a very powerful shot, but not always in the right direction.
Good article in BACKPASS magazine couple of years ago on Wolves juniors(Academy in today's speak), mentioned Laurie and his successful football ventures in the USA

Who's the blond

Played away at Morecambe when we were 3-0 down at h-t. He was hooked(along with COG), and we drew 3-3 and should have won.
Always seemed to put in a shift, but just not good enough for the League.

RIP REG JENKINS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
at 12:07 30 Jan 2013

Great memories, A goal after running through six inch deep mud from the halfway line at the Shay with Halifax defenders bouncing off him, is one of so many.

RIP Reg, Thanks for the memories, never be forgotten.
