Huge fan of winter and summer Olympics.
Big focus on the Canadian ice hockey team in Chez Planet and my four yearly curling fix is well under way. I find it incredible how biathletes get their heart rates down as quickly as they do to start shooting, and the speed the downhill skiers manage.
Anyone going or any one/event to watch out for?

It was absolutely awful watching Lindsay Vonn's crash just now. I had a relatively negligible ski accident a couple of years ago and strained the interior knee ligament and bruised the knee bones. The pain was unbelievable, to the extent that I only realised a few days later that I'd also fractured my ankle.
Vonn was, incomprehensibly, racing with a ruptured ACL and crashed at speed. She was still screaming in pain 15 minutes after so the painkilling effect of the adrenaline shock clearly wasn't touching the sides. I almost had to vomit seeing it. |  | | |

Not sure who is advising her or what her burning ambition/drive to compete was but that was a shocking poor decision to compete at this event IMO.
My youngest daughter (at 15) an up and coming excellent striker tore her ACL simply cutting for a pass and was in agony.
2 years later back to full fitness and playing beautifully she tore it again ( bad high tackle )and miniscus and the pain she felt was soul crushing for her and a parent to witness .
Another succesful surgery  thankfully but she will have issues down the road sadly.
Vonn has been through so much already she probably has done serious damage now and her age will not help her in recovery going off our paperwork from both operations. Wish her well

I must have watched the wrong video on Sky MrSheen I was talking about the one where a Us athlete in red snowsuit was standing /sitting on a rope seat with the 2 medical people and winched up like off a trawler .
There is a second one where she is strapped into a stretcher and lifted away obviously seriously hurt and imobilized in there .
